not exactly a naming disaster ... but not great, either

dc3, born 5 weeks ago, is called Leon Magnus

and look who beat me to the punch by a good 2 months

I had no idea until today!!!

yama Fri 30-Oct-09 20:30:40

Lovely names.

yama Fri 30-Oct-09 20:31:19

Oh, and maybe Sven chose the names. smile

dizzydixies Fri 30-Oct-09 20:56:50

they are lovely names smile I know how you feel though, fecking Amanda Holden and some sodding footballer's wife chose the name for our DD2 just after we had and now its raced up the charts angry

never mind, I still love it grin

GossipMonger Fri 30-Oct-09 21:03:03

Could be worse. Kerry Katona named her son the same name as my son who is now 7 which still grates on me!

Annabelsmummie Fri 30-Oct-09 21:04:02

At least they have them the other way 'round, so he'll be known as Magnus (and not Leon).smile.

MustNotEatCake Fri 30-Oct-09 21:10:08

thanks ladies. I feel better.

dc1 is called the same as Scary Spice's dd too ... although in that case, it was actually SS who gave me the idea for the name blush

Now all I need is for dc2's name to be used by a Z-lister and I'll be all set for school-gate shame.

In the meantime, I guess this is the closest I'm going to get to David Beckham ... so let's just try to enjoy that ...

SCARYspicemonster Fri 30-Oct-09 21:15:12

I thought you meant me then - I was a bit surprised as I don't have a DD

crankytwanky Sat 31-Oct-09 13:04:38

I apparently have the same taste in names as Jules Oliver. We thought about Daisy and Honey, before settling on Blossom

(As did little Mo from EE.)

MaggieOicheSamhain Sat 31-Oct-09 16:57:20

Well, it's the other way 'round! but wow, you have similar taste to her!?

I usually know slebs' children's names and this had passed me by entirely. I don't think most people are aware of RL anymore.

People will ONLY remember (if they remember at all) that RL has a MAgnus.
and your friends will probably only remember that your Leon Magnus.

MaggieOicheSamhain Sat 31-Oct-09 16:57:48

... pressed post to soon

that your Leon Magnus is Leon

Mamazonabroomstick Sat 31-Oct-09 17:07:09

"rebecca Loos gives birth to new baby boy"

Can you give birth to a second hand baby boy then?

nooka Sat 31-Oct-09 20:08:51

Magnus is a fairly common Scandinavian name though isn't it?

MustNotEatCake Sun 01-Nov-09 16:21:21

LOL 2nd hand baby boy

ah well, 'tis one of those odd coincidences ... could be worse.

I still love the name - in either formation smile

MrsBadger Sun 01-Nov-09 16:31:29

in fact ';baby' is redundant in that sentence too - what other kind of boy would anyone be giving birth too? hmm

We had our eye on William until the ubiquitous Kate Garraway 'stole' it...I actually felt pissed off with her.

Now liking Leo....tried it out on DP the other day he says 'what, like off Brookside?'
Err, you mean the rarely-seen child from a soap only watched by northern folk which finished 10 years ago?
Where does he get his references from...

MustNotEatCake Sun 01-Nov-09 21:49:41

I actually have no idea who Kate Garraway is!! so not so ubiquitous in my world .... fortunately, as my 2nd dc has William as middle name ...

sonniebonnie Mon 02-Nov-09 13:39:24

Magnus is indeed quite a common Scandinavian name. I love it!

As others have said, RL's son will be known as Magnus (how often do you use your second name?), whereas I assume your ds will be known as Leon.

MamaLazarou Mon 02-Nov-09 13:48:59

Who takes any notices of what that yo-yo-knickered old Z-lister does, anyway?

They are lovely names.

ArrghnBoooeee Mon 02-Nov-09 13:51:20

I've been eyeing up the name Magnus for DC3. Love it

thesecondcocking Mon 02-Nov-09 16:16:14
