Do you like this name? My BF can't decide if she likes it or not. She has a DD called Nicole and a DS called Jake.

UnrequitedSkink Tue 27-Oct-09 22:30:19

Not really, to be honest!

CinderellaRach Tue 27-Oct-09 22:30:45

Paige is trailor trash, the most chaviest name
please don't do that to your precious girl. It's rubbish and mean x

Tidey Tue 27-Oct-09 22:31:58

I quite like it actually. I blame Charmed.

MrsMorgan Tue 27-Oct-09 22:32:26

I like it, my cousin is called Paige.

Also, can I yet again say, it is a person that is chavvy not a name.

CristinaTheAstonishing Tue 27-Oct-09 22:34:54

I don't like it but could get used to it.

I disagree with MrsMorgan-sorry but that comment cannot be true...Please tell me a top politician/newsreader/philanthropist/Nobel Peace Price winner who is called Paige or even Chantelle/Brooklyn/Jaden for that matter????
Common is common and class is class.Paige i not class and never will be.

Names do have associations though. That is why we ask for an opinion on them I suppose. You would make assumptions about siblings named Ptolemy and Araminta for example because of previous experiences/literature/class connotations.

Paige, while in itself a fine name does where I come from seem to be a name given to children brought up in certain areas with parents of a particular socioeconomic status.

All of that said, a person does become their name and their name does not define them. Your child will be whoever they are destined to be and you gift them with a name you like.

I really like Ptolemy and Araminta though. grin

sargentpooper Tue 27-Oct-09 23:03:01

don't do it - it's extremely chavvy!!

I would consider using it as a middle name, but not as a first name, probably because I'd be afraid of getting reactions like the ones on here. It doesn't sound chavvy at all to me.

FluffyPumpkins Tue 27-Oct-09 23:14:54

I have a 15yo niece called Paige.

CinderellaRach Tue 27-Oct-09 23:16:42

But wouldn't it be boring living in a world where everyone was called Mary and John?
