A sister for Ellie and Tabby

I already have Ellie (Eleanor) and Tabby (Tabetha) and am going to have another girl in just over 6 weeks time.

I'd like to have a similar sort of name again (ie long that can be shortened in a couple of different ways) but can't think of any that I like, any good ideas?

Kitty (katherine), tilly (matilda)

Oh I ought to mention that Ellie's middle name is May and Tabby's is Katy, so that rules out Kitty really. I did think of Matilda and it's a possibility apart from the fact that DH isn't that keen and having a Tabby and a Tilly sounds a bit like I have cats rather than children!

Maddy (Madeleine)
Harriet (Hattie)
Ophelia (Fifi)

My son had a Hettie (Henrietta) and a Frankie (Francesca) at his nursery and I always liked both of those. Or there's Margaret (classic and due a comeback IMHO!), which has a zillion short forms - Meg, Maggie, Peggy to name but a few...

Jessica and Beatrice would both be on my list if they didn't sound so bad with our surname (Curtis, so Jessica sounds a bit Ulrikakakakaka, and Beatrice Curtis just sounds silly!). The others are nice, but nothing's really jumping out at me. Hmmmmmmm.

We have the same issue with Jessica (Cameron - Ulrikakakaka) smile

We have a Tilly (obviously) and we think this one would have been Tabitha or Florence if it were a girl. I love Flossie/Florrie

Amelia (Millie)
Isobel (Izzie)
Imogen (Midge)
Marguerite/Margaret (Daisy)
Charlotte (lottie)

Or if you are brave - Gilberte (Gigi)!

Hmm, maybe not bellissima!

Okay - understandable! But the others okay (oh and I too really like Florrie, Tillyscoutmum).

Annabel? (Annie/Bella)

Elizabeth? (prob not with Eleanor, but abundance of diminutives - love Bessie/Betty)

Winifred? (Winnie/Freddie)

Oooh I'd forgotten about Felicity, that was on our original list, it was a toss up between that and Penelope which I'd almost settled on but have now gone off. I think Felicity might be winning again.

Moos, I have to agree with Tilly. Florence shortened to Florrie is lovely.

I also like Isabel(Issy)
Penelope(Penny) and
Felicity(Fliss or my best friend is known as Flic)

I love Elizabeth... you can have Beth, Betty, Betsy, Liz, Eliza, Lizzie...

Aranea Wed 21-Oct-09 20:05:16

... or of course my favourite abbr of Elizabeth, Libby. (how could I forget that one?)

Theodora can be shortened to Teddy - very cute and goes with your other names

libby is lovely...

cloelia Wed 21-Oct-09 22:48:18

Florence shortened to Floss or Flossie is pretty. We know a 13 yr old Betsy which is unusual nowadays. I have a Virginia shortened to Ginny which we really like; also, not so often seen now, I like Victoria (Tory or Vicky); or Georgina, Georgie.

Hi Moosy

Libby or Elizabeth is lovely and would go nicely with Ellie and Tabby.

Beatrice is great but then Im biased. grin shame it doesnt go with your surname.

Cant believe you are only 6wks away!!

GOod luck choosing
