Hi ladies

After finding out yesterday that we're having a baby girl, we've now narrowed down our list of girls names and have decided on Kayla, with Jade as a middle name.

What do you think of this?

Please be gentle with me I'm a newbie here wink

suwoo Tue 06-Oct-09 09:25:25

Not for me, sorry.

Good luck with your pregnancy smile

MrsBadger Tue 06-Oct-09 09:57:23

Not for me either

Michaela is better by a mile and is where all the Kaylee / Kayla type names are derived from.

princessmel Tue 06-Oct-09 09:58:36

Sorry I'm not keen on either.

Jamieandhismagictorch Tue 06-Oct-09 10:27:52

Sorry, I don't like it either.

What about Carla ?

JodieO Tue 06-Oct-09 10:29:24

I quite like it, don't like Carla though.

I like Michaela too, & then Kayla works nicely as a short form.

I know a Kayla and she's a cutie!

It's a bit American sounding for my taste, but I know a lovely Kayla smile and it works for her

kidcreoleandthecoconuts Tue 06-Oct-09 10:47:22

Mmmm not keen really sorry smile

Jajas Tue 06-Oct-09 10:53:39

Sorry not keen, don't let it put you off posting though smile!

I think Kayla sounds a bit too American.

What about Kyla - it's Gaelic and means lovely. I like this a lot.

If you love Kayla i'd think about putting Michaela Jade on the birth certificate, then she would have a more serious sounding name to go for if she wanted to when older with Kayla as a nickname.

Sorry, I'm in the 'against' camp too. It's the baby's name in 'The Giggler Treatment' by Roddy Doyle and I always thought it didn't sound nice. Not too sure about the Jade bit either...

I know a lovely 3 year old Kayla. I think her full name is Mikayla.

suwoo Tue 06-Oct-09 12:58:59

Mikayla is worse IMO.

MrsBadger Tue 06-Oct-09 13:04:20

Mikayla much worse

Squishabelle Tue 06-Oct-09 13:13:38

Sorry not keen on Kayla at all - sounds made-up.

Kayla sounds like the noise a pleghmy old smoker makes when clearing his throat.

Kayla Jade has so many negative connotations that I wouldn't know where to start.

Please don't do it!!

I like Kayla, DD's cousin is called that and she lives in... you guessed it, America. If you like it go for it, it's not like it's superweird or anything.

Another no. It's a really fluffy name imo.
