What do you think?

TurkeyLurkey Sat 03-Oct-09 09:55:06

Sorry, reminds me of a dogs name

or a dinosaur.

AngryAndFedUp Sat 03-Oct-09 09:56:59

grin I know what you mean!

It's a family name so I'd like to use it but I'm not sure I like it enough. DH isn't keen.

purepurple Sat 03-Oct-09 09:58:31

I had a dog called Rex.

TurkeyLurkey Sat 03-Oct-09 09:59:27

How about as a middle name? Be great in those "I've got a strange middle name" conversations you have.

TurkeyLurkey Sat 03-Oct-09 09:59:56

Exactly purepurple wink

zookeeper Sat 03-Oct-09 10:00:03

dog's name. Sorry

paddingtonbear1 Sat 03-Oct-09 10:01:01

Rex was one of my fave books as a child - but it was about a dog. I wouldn't use it as a first name.

RnB Sat 03-Oct-09 10:12:12

My ds2 is called Rex. It really suits him, and in my opinion is a nice, strong, unique name

Thissideofchannel Sat 03-Oct-09 10:42:06

But people have dogs called all sorts of names, including Oscar, Rex, Katie or whatever....

It wouldn't stop me from naming a child if I liked the name.

doubleexpresso Sat 03-Oct-09 10:54:27

The temptation for others to cal him 'Sexy Rexy' will be overwhelming...

I know one. Tis a cool name.

BulletProofMum Wed 07-Oct-09 16:57:54

Make me think of butch Americans - NO!

thighsmadeofcheddar Wed 07-Oct-09 16:58:13

There is a funny Austrian show about a dog called Rex. It's very odd, not mainstream at all.

jamandjerusalem Wed 07-Oct-09 17:42:04

I love it. Brilliant.

Rex Harrison?

I overhead two old men in the post office, one called the other 'Sexy Rexy' and Rex looked wistful and said "Those were the days..."

Salonly Wed 07-Oct-09 17:51:20

Too doggy. I prefer Max or Felix.

womma Fri 09-Oct-09 13:50:43

Woof woof!

Bathsheba Fri 09-Oct-09 15:17:59

There is a builder in my Dh's home town called Rex. He was always called Sexy Rexy, even though he wasn't.

I don't know if thats a selling point...

MaggieBehave Fri 09-Oct-09 15:34:03

I quite like it. I like Bruce and Bruno and Gus too which no doubt somebody will say woof woof.

If Barnaby gets the mumsnet approval then I don't see the difference tbh.

Felix is lovely but it's at least as cat as Rex is dog.

My name can be a dog's name. Well I suppose any name can be. But once a friend's mum said "are you hungry maggie?" I said "oh, er, a little peckish thank you mrs patterson". I was talking to the dog she said.

BooBooChicken Fri 09-Oct-09 15:47:00

i love it!

(but it IS a dog's name smile)

hatwoman Fri 09-Oct-09 15:51:57

I know one - we were all a bit suprised at first - but I love it now.

200yearoldhorsehair Mon 12-Oct-09 20:34:45

Oh I love this, but feel I have a girl a-brewing, so won't get to use it.sad

RatherBeOnThePiste Sat 17-Oct-09 14:57:36

I LOVE REX, we have one in our family

Nancy66 Sat 17-Oct-09 16:03:04

I do like it but, alas, I do think it's more of a dog than human name.
