Middle name to go with Marley (boy)

DS IS ALREADY NAMED THIS so if this isn't to your taste please don't post to tell me, I'd rather live in a bubble where everyone LOVES the name as much as me .

Ok so ds born on Friday is called Marley, his surname begins with J and has two syllables.

We can't agree on a middle name, i'm happy for him not to have one as i don't and i haven't ever seen the lack of one as a great loss.

DP would like him to have one but hasn't actually got a name that he's really keen on.

So options

are

Marley Ray (think they flow well, but not keen on Ray as a stand alone name so not sure why i'd use it as a middle name)

Marley Joseph (dp's Grandad, but makes me think of Marley Joe~ slightly hill billyesk)

Marley Luther (My grandad, not sure if it's too close to Martin Luther...?)

Marley William (family name from dp's side, dp's middle name)

Marley James (this is my favourite but James is ds1's middle name, will i look bonkers giving both boys the same middle name? DP Is James)

Please feel free to suggest names, We would like to register him on Monday so need to decide either way asap

do you not think it's odd having two children with the same middle name?

No. Its not odd when it is referencing their father.
I like James best.
Although I would vote for Bob

I like Marley. Its kind of cool.

( and people don't really talk about 2nd names in real life tbh)

Hmmm I think it is a bit odd having same middle name, sorry. But if its their Dad's name, then maybe its ok.

How about Marley Christopher? I lik ethe three syllable name in between the two TWO syllable names

Not sure... I like a family connection with middle names so maybe Joseph or William? I definitely wouldn't give 2 of my children the same middle name, fwiw.

James.
My middle name is Maria. My 3 sisters all have Maria in their names too. We like it!

Or William.

I think Marley James is best but would avoid giving both the same mn. Second choice would be Marley William. Lovely

Thank you for all the replies so far,

So William and James are the favourites

But half of you think its daft having two kids with the same name and other 50% think it's fine.....

Just sorting out ds1's bath will be back shortly.

Jacob or Robert?

Ray and Luther are awful!

Bob

cob I do think they flow really well as names together! I like Rae as a first name for a girl but not Ray for a boy, this is why i'm not sure about it as a middle name.
Noah is a beautiful name... not sure about the flow with the last name though but will put it to DP when he gets home.

MamaG Christopher- is nice but doen't grab me, i completely agree that two -three- two
or two -one- two flows better that two -two-two.

I think Marley is actually quite a hard name to put a second name with.

Marley Patrick
Marley Jon
Marley Hugh
Marley Reuben

I think Marley is a gorgeous name - well chosen!

I'd avoid Luther because Martin Luther is such a well-known name it does sound a little too close.

I like Marley Joseph and Marley James.
But perhaps it would be best to go with Marley william to avoid the same mn issue - and also, if it's your DP's family name, then there would be a sense of balance, one of daddy's names for each child?

Or, for a completely different suggestion:
Marley Orlando - that's just beautiful I think!

It was tongue in cheek, but I think they both still go together well

I´d go for William, unless there´s a name on your side to use.

Marley James

Lovely and quite sweet for both boys to have the same middle name.
