Which do you prefer or do you dislike both. Dh has strong preference but I'm not sure.

Jude

Unless you are going to send him to prep-school, and possibly Oxford.

Rindercella Mon 07-Sep-09 15:20:44

Love, love, love Jude. Not so keen on Jolyon.

MissisBoot Mon 07-Sep-09 15:22:00

Jude - jolyon will lead to a lifetime of mispellings, mispronounciation and pisstaking.

Jude is ok although I do prefer it as a girls name.

stanausauruswrecks Mon 07-Sep-09 15:22:39

Jude is OK, Jolyon sound like a drip dry fabric..

TabithaTwitchet Mon 07-Sep-09 15:22:46

Definitely Jude, fantastic name.

I don't even know how to pronounce the other one.

AnnieLobeseder Mon 07-Sep-09 15:24:42

What's wrong with good old fashioned Julian? Why the strange spelling? I assume Jolyon (which is wrong on many levels) is pronounced more or less the same way?

boodleboot Mon 07-Sep-09 15:34:29

neither for me.

loads of judes where i live and i just here 'jolly-on' when i see Jolyon.

if i had to choose it would be Jude....

MamaLazarou Mon 07-Sep-09 18:10:31

I don't like either. Jude makes me think of that twat Jude Law (aka Celebrity Dave), and Jolyon just screams boarding school .

Rindercella Mon 07-Sep-09 18:15:55

Ah yes, MamaL, Jude Law. Instantly puts me off the name after thinking I love it so much!

Tortington Mon 07-Sep-09 18:16:15

BitOfFun Mon 07-Sep-09 18:31:53

Jolyon sounds like a euphemism for an erection, sorry. Quite like Jude, but they will get sick of that song.

sheepgomeep Mon 07-Sep-09 18:37:19

jude for sure, It was on of my list of names for ds.

scottishmummy Mon 07-Sep-09 18:37:47

jolyon sounds like a brand of suppository - new jolyon twice a day. reduce faecal impaction

bexincornwall Mon 07-Sep-09 21:08:12

Lol bitoffun, was exactly what I was thinking (in the sense of 'oh look he's got a huge jolly-on!), thought it was just my dirty mind!!

Love Jude though, would be what our soon to be born second DS would be called if only I could get OH to agree..

TheBolter Mon 07-Sep-09 21:23:29

One of our best male friends is a Jolyon (or is it Joylon??) anyway, he calls himself Joe smile.

TheBolter Mon 07-Sep-09 21:24:40

And I love Jude, it's the only boy's name I've liked enough to choose for what turned out to be dd1 and dd2, so I haven't got to use it yet!

janeite Mon 07-Sep-09 21:26:13

I like Jude. Jolyon is dreadful, imho - sorry.

hackneyzoo Mon 07-Sep-09 21:29:29

i love Jude (I have a DS called Jude so am completely biased)

traceybath Mon 07-Sep-09 21:34:07
