Looking for an English middle name for our daughter

Hello! I'm half-French, half-English (living in France) and my husband is Berber, so our daughter is going to have three names (French - Berber - English).
The French name will be Olivia (it is rare in France), the Berber name Lehna (meaning "peace"), but we can't settle on an English name.
It must :
- be immediately identifiable as English
- not start with an E or P (the initials would sound silly in French)
- not start with the sound [a]

ex :
Olivia Lehna Cecily (but husband doesn't like it)
Olivia Lehna Juliet

any other ideas please? I'm due in 6 weeks!

Olivia Lehna Rose?

I was going to suggest Rose too! I think a one syllable name would work well

amelie2781 Fri 04-Sep-09 15:28:51

I quite like Rose but it is spelt the same way in French, so people won't see it is English...

Juliet is beautiful. What about Phoebe? Is that seen as French?

Olivia is very very popular in England, it's on the number one spot.

Now I think about it, it's hard to find a name that's really English.

bellissima Fri 04-Sep-09 17:45:47

Fiona sounds very English.

Catherine, Constance, Elizabeth, Claire, Caroline, Helen(e) all French.

bellissima Fri 04-Sep-09 17:46:22

Or Kate - Catherine is French but Kate is very English.

Thank you for your help!
I'm adding May, Kate and Jane to my list.

To Shakirashakira : the Berbers are the "native" inhabitants of North Africa (before it was colonised by the Arabs). Their language has nothing to do with Arabic.

Mary, Ruth, Jane, Martha (although a th would be tricky for French ppl to pronounce maybe)

BlueChampagne Mon 07-Sep-09 13:12:42

Godiva has a long English pedigree ...

Bellissima, Fiona is Scottish. Now, if the OP had asked for Scottish, Irish, Welsh or Cornish suggestions, I'm sure there would have been more suggestions.
