Fox for a boy. Is this just too off-the-wall?

nancy75 Thu 03-Sep-09 22:14:42

it was the mans name in x files wasn't it?

Fnergle Thu 03-Sep-09 22:15:03

Yes, dear.

akamummy Thu 03-Sep-09 22:15:57

Yes it was. Hadn't thought of that.

Phoenix Thu 03-Sep-09 22:16:45

As in Mulder?

akamummy Thu 03-Sep-09 22:17:02

Want something a bit quirky for a boy though. Nothing boring like James, Tom, Sam etc.... I want something different but not so different he will get bullied. Something cool.

FritesMenthe Thu 03-Sep-09 22:17:31

Prefer Wolfie.

thats it - fox mulder!
personally i think fox might get the p taken at school - sorry.

akamummy Thu 03-Sep-09 22:18:16

As in Wolfgang? Bit German (no offence to Germans).

BrigitBigKnickers Thu 03-Sep-09 22:18:43

There is a boy in Billy Elliot with this name at the moment. He claims his parents were big X files fans.

I am not one for outlandish names but I actually like this name.

akamummy Thu 03-Sep-09 22:20:35

we are not x file fans at all - just want something a bit different.

FritesMenthe Thu 03-Sep-09 22:20:45

As in Smith.

akamummy Thu 03-Sep-09 22:21:21

Fox Smith? Who is he?

I don;t like it, sorry.

FritesMenthe Thu 03-Sep-09 22:23:59

Sorry, Wolfie Smith aka Foxy.

LadyGlencoraPalliser Thu 03-Sep-09 22:25:34

Yes, Fox is too off the wall. He won't thank you for it.

Rachmumoftwo Thu 03-Sep-09 22:30:03

No probs in primary but when he gets to big school he will be teased

(from someone who loves the name)

mrsruffallo Thu 03-Sep-09 22:31:49

I like Fox and Wolf for boys.
I say go for it, people are very conservative regarding names on here

akamummy Thu 03-Sep-09 22:32:33

But really, what is the worst a kid could say about it? I mean, most kids get teased at some point. My name is Ellie - which is relatively normal, but I was Smelly, Belly, Jelly, anything that rhymed. I coped.

mrsruffallo Thu 03-Sep-09 22:34:22

I don't think he will necessarily be teased. There are lots of children these days who are not named Emily or Jack.
Go for it

akamummy Thu 03-Sep-09 22:35:14

Thanks Mrs Ruffallo, I agree with you. There are a lot very boring names out there and I haven't come across anything I like more than Fox (maybe I should spell it Foxx?).

I do live in a part of London where crazy names abound so I don't think Fox will be the craziest one in his school.
I'm going to go for it I think ...

unless anyone has any good alternatives?

millenniumfalcon Thu 03-Sep-09 22:36:36

felix
