Is this a proper name? We are thinking about it for No. 3 but don't want it to be a "stand alone" name, not a nickname for Christophier/Christian. Thanks!

I love it - but I don't get what you mean. You don't want it to be a stand-alone name? Well it will need to be short for something then, won't it? Anyway - I like it!

I know 2 Kits. One is 6 and I'm pretty sure his name on his birth certificate is Christopher but he has never been called that.
I know another who is 6 months old, I don't know if he is just Kit or not.

I LOVE it, and think its fine as a given name.

I love it. Don't know what it's short for.

My best friends son is called Kit- but it is shortened from Christopher. I love it

Sorry - typo. I meant that I do want it to be a "stand alone" name. Thanks again.

Fab name. Doesn't need to be short for anything but may give DS more options later (i'e' if he reads the ten o'clock news he may prefer Christopher....)

I only know of one Kit - my auntie, short for Kathleen.

I think it can also be a nn for Christopher, as can Kip.

I think it's a very special name. Suits a boy or a man IYKWIM!

I like it very much. It is one of my DS's middle names and came very close to being his first name.

I have a Kit - it's his given name, not a shortened version of Christopher, although we did consider this.

In the end, we decided that we loved the name so much that we should just go for it, and have never regretted it. It suits him down to the ground... And surprisingly, we only had two Knightrider comments!

If you love it, then go for it!

My dh's grandfather was Kit short for Kitchener.

Can also be short for Katherine.

My DS is a Kit - not shortened, just as is. I'm not so keen on Christopher, and didn't want to give him the option to rebel and lengthen it when he's 16 and wants to rile me ...

Love it, one of my favourite boys names. Makes me think Christopher Marlowe, not Knight Riders!

I think it's one of the few really sexy boy's names! Great choice.

I love it - it just works in any setting - but personally I would give the child the option of using Christopher in later life.

I think it's a great name: strong, sexy (when adult), cute when a kid and very masculine but without being too whacky or try hard. Perfect name!
