Baby names

DH has just stuck a spanner in the workd re our name. Help.

We were all set on Faith Juliet. My mum is called Julie and I want the baby to be named after her but she doesn't like her name and neither do I really.

DH turns round yesterday and says 'if we have a girl we're stuck with 'Juliet' as a middle name EURRRRRRRRGHHHHH'. Obviously I want DH to like our daughter's name.

So now I need a middle name that is after my mum in a way but is not juliet.

Help.

Julia?
Your maiden name?/mum's maiden name?
Different spelling Juliette? (I know of one with this spelling who gets called Jet)
Just Julie?

I love Jet! I need to run all of these by DP tonight.

Mum won't see 'Jet' as after her.

I wonder if 'Jay' would work. Or just 'J'?

Congratulations on your wedding! Does your mother have a second name that you can use instead of Julia?

I also know a Ju-Leigh

Thankyou. She has no middle name and her maiden name was awful so you can see my dilema.

Ju-Leigh is a little questionable lol.

Could you have 2 middle names? Let dh pick the 2nd one?

Both of my dc have two middle names. One of which is dh's mother's maiden name. My dd has my mother's name, followed by it.

Why not let your mum pick the middle name (or ask her for names that she loves and you pick from them) so that she has had the input rather than using her actual name, if none of you are that keen?

I like Faith Juliet and think you should stick with that if you like it. Its a middle name so not like he has to hear it every day if he objects to it that much!

I also used a family name as a middle name for my DS and plan to do so for DS2. I think its really nice to use a family name for the middle name, and I am sure your mum will be really touched if you do use Juliet.

Just use Julie.

People get so hung up middle names and no one ever uses them. So it's a good opportunity to acknowledge a family member without actually having to use the name.

My DS2 has the middle name Glynne. I'd nver name a child that I don't like it, but it's a family name for Dh's family so it's win:win, they're all well chuffed and I don't actually have to use the name Glynne (or any other weirdy welsh names) in every day life.

what about just the 'lie' part of her name but obviously spelt Leigh? good choice of name btw we have also chose Faith for a girl although im a bit worried it doesnt sound right with our surname!

Mum thinks we are using 'Juliet' so I think we'll probably just end up going with that or Julie.

Ash. What does your surname begin with? If you don't mind me asking. Ours begins with G. I think Faith sounds soft and lovely and there's hardly anyone called it around this area.

Its a H,its more that the name Faith H...... sounds like we are god botherers rather than it actually not sounding right iykwim? It is a lovely name though and we have really set our hearts on it,there are no other Faiths around our way that I know of

Ash, I think you should go for it. I don't really think people associate the name 'faith' with religion. I know it's an obvious connection, but when someone's called it, it just becomes their name doesn't it.

Julia is lovely.

I prefer Julia Faith. That way round. Prefer Julia to Faith and Julia Faith has a better ring to it than the other way around. imo.
