Hi There

After much debate and reading of name books the other half and I are unable to agree on what to call our first DD. Fret not people she's not yet been born but as time ticks on there's not long left to decide - at this rate she could possibly end up being registered as the first nameless child

Typically we agreed very quickly on a boys name (Thomas John)! But that's by the by; he likes:

Cecelia May or Kara May (.

I like Caitlyn Marie

At least we've been able to almost agree on initials

Any thoughts?

I like Caitlin/Caitlyn. But wait until baby is born.

With one of my ds's, I had a name all ready but when he was born he didn't "look" like his name so we chose something else entirely!!

There's no rush. Wait till the baby's here. You still have 6 weeks after the birth and your baby might 'look' like a certain name.

I'm not wild about any of your suggestions. They are nice, inoffensive names but nothing that leaps out. Cecelia sounds pretty and Kara should be Cara imho. Caitlin quite popular round here if that's the sort of thing that worries you.

I agree with trees, would wait until she is born because one name on your short list might just fit perfectly. Cecelia is very pretty, while Kara is very calm, and Caitlin is more tomboy (in my head, anyway!). So you might see that one name is perfect and the others don't suit.

To me, it makes more sense to wait until you meet the baby before you give her a name, but I know a lot of people chose the name before the birth.

I like Cecelia most from your list, but what would you shorten it to - Cessy? Celia, Lia? Because you will almost certainly shorten that one I would guess, and it will be shortened by school friend, etc, so you would need to like the nickname, too.

I think wait until she is born and see what jumps at you. We have always taken 3 - 5 into the delivery room and then seen what suits (although our rule is baby must have a name within one hour!)
FWIW i love Cecelia -, and i don't like Kara/Cara at all.
Caitlin is ok, but really boring as there as sooooo many of them.
Cecelia is beautiful and unusual though - really stunning.

Cecelia sounds so lovely. There are tons of Caitlyns/Kaitlyns where I am. Very fake Irish.

I love Cecelia, its DD2's middle name and had I known we were going to have DD3 I would have kept it

very very lovely with nn Cece for when she's wee

Caitlyn is really popular up here and there are loads of them so if that bothers you don't use it - pretty though

and agree that Kara should be spelt Cara if used

I love Cara. Caitlin is OK too. Not keen on other one but Cecily is nice.

Cecelia is gorgeous.

The others are OK.

I agree, don't decide, have your shortlist nd then once she's born you get to decide.

We had 2 boys names DS was one name for 6 hours it didn't feel right so we changed it to the other choice and knew that was right.
