'Tis cute - but perhaps too cute? I'd go for Elizabeth to be on the safe side

Lovely, but best as a nickname I think.

Cute for a baby or old lady but not sure it suits a teenager, so I would agree with the other posters on Elizabeth, lots of choices for other nicknames. Reminds me of David Copperfield (Dickens, not creosoted magician)

I have a friend with a 5 month old Betsy. Wasn't too keen at first, but it's totally grown on me now.

In Welsh it is a name in its own right - not shortened from Elizabeth - but spelled Betsi

My Mum is called Betsy (her full name, not a nn, named after my Great Grandmother!) and I love it as I've never really heard anyone else with that name, but she hates it!!

Perhaps like the others suggest, you could use Elizabeth (which I LOVE) and then shorten, then she has the choice when she's older.

I know of someone who called their DD Betsy after her mum who was called Elizabeth. I really like it.

Lovely name. Give Elizabeth as the name though and just shorten it.

I agree with the others - it's lovely as a shortening of Elizabeth, but not on its own. My little niece is Betty, which suits her at the moment as she is cheeky and curly, but when she gets older she can choose to be called a more grown up Liza or Beth.

I love Betsy. DH said it smelt of wee I don't like Elizabeth so tried to persuade him to go with Betrys, Betony or Betula and shorten it. But to no avail. Oh well. You welcome to steal...!

I actually quite like it as a baby name, but would never ever call my child it as my guinea pig when I was little was called Betsy, after the rabbit my dad had when he was little! He called it Betsy because he got it in the year of the Queen's coronation.

I would also go with Elizabeth on the birth certificate.
