I have a name for a boy in mind but I don't love it, not in the way I did/ do my ds's name. So with 7 weeks to go (and don't know what I'm having, but best to be prepared!) I am open to suggestions.

I like Irish names, names that sound like they wouldn't be out place in a myth or fable, names that sound quite regal, literary names... if that's any help

I rather like Prosper!! what would it get shortened to, if anything, do you think? I've managed to avoid abbreviations of my kids' names so far but always best to think of everything...

I was talking to a friend today about how I wish I'd called ds2 Sullivan (Sully) but I chickened out and gave him a more mainstream name. Still love the name.

Prosper - a good name but I wouldn't like to have it as my name.

Erm...for Prosper....Prospector (gold digger)or Proz (prozzy) springs to mind.

I am a 100% top 20 (ish) gal when it somes to names but after seeing your names:-

Phoenix and Cassian, for some reason Gabe popped into my head. Dont particularly like it or Gabriel but it seemed to flow!

Was it you that liked Zephaniah? Sorry if not just it rang a bell with your other kids names. I like Zeph.

Report
LetThemEatCake · 07/08/2009 14:08

yes that was me. Gone off it as a first name .. possibly a 2nd, or Zephan maybe.

Top of my list is Magnus - love it but don't love it, if you get me..

Sacherville???

That sounds like Sachertorte (a German cake)? You can't be serious!

Love Hector, though!

I read it years ago in a baby name book, I googled it to see if I had either spelt it wrong or imagined it and I couldnt find it in a baby name site but it is a surname and it is in use as a first name, so i didnt imagine it!

gwpapers.virginia.edu/index/revolution/wlist.html

Sacherville Wood is listed in the Papers of George Washington.

Some good names on this list!

Artemas Bethuel Jedidiah
Meshech Pelatiah Myndert
Bayze sounds very modern.
