I quite like it. Reminds me slightly of double deckers, but I am chocolate obsessed blush

KembleTwins Tue 04-Aug-09 21:16:20

Ant & Dec??

BexJ78 Tue 04-Aug-09 21:17:22

and the man who used to do the business reports on breakfast news..he was very jolly though!

GeeWhizz Tue 04-Aug-09 21:20:52

I like it, did consider for DS but wasn't sure about people shortening it to Dec.

LadyGlencoraPalliser Tue 04-Aug-09 21:22:04

I like it, but I'm Irish so I would.

maggievirgo Tue 04-Aug-09 21:25:24

I like it. It doesn't seem new and 'oooh' to me though. I'm Irish. Most of the Declans I know are my own age. But I could see it going the way of Aidan and Finn... (going a bit more mainstream)

As yes, declan ...murray was it? chubby, no looker, but sharp and funny and cheerful. never see bbc anymore though.

dizzydixies Tue 04-Aug-09 21:26:42

the bloke on neighbours but then thats just outed me as having crap tv taste grin

snala Tue 04-Aug-09 21:35:58

Thats mainly positive then? Does it matter we are not Irish? Am I too worried about what others think?

notsoteenagemum Tue 04-Aug-09 21:42:02

At about 13 I vowed my first born son would be Declan Anthony blush but then I moved on to liking Blur and Oasis.
I still like Declan though, the name not so much the presenter.

Tommy Tue 04-Aug-09 21:45:02

had a big crush on a boy called Declan when I was about 13 smile

I think it's nice but more Irish than me so I wouldn't have used it myself

Deemented Tue 04-Aug-09 22:48:01

I really like it and may rob it if i have a ds this time

paisleyleaf Tue 04-Aug-09 22:53:45

I really like it

maggievirgo Tue 04-Aug-09 23:07:40

Snala, I don't think it matters. Isabella and Sophias aren't all Italian ?

If anybody says huh? and makes you feel that you did something odd, invent a great grandfather from kerry. everybody has one of those anyway i think!

Rollergirl1 Wed 05-Aug-09 08:51:01

My BIL is called Declan. It does get shortened to Dec a lot though. Have another BIL called Kieron which i've always really liked too.

jeee Wed 05-Aug-09 19:26:50

My DS is a Declan, and the first 3 people I told seriously said, "oh, as in Ant & Dec." I went home and told DH we were changing his name.

screamingabdab Wed 05-Aug-09 19:54:41

I like it

myjobismum Wed 05-Aug-09 20:32:43

Love it!

Our baby born sept last year, was going to be Declan Isaac, but out came DD, so we changed our minds and went for Naomi instead wink

Good luck with the birth of your baby!

goomum Thu 06-Aug-09 09:19:29

Declan is a terrific name!

lena522 Sat 08-Aug-09 18:26:34

Love Declan, on my list for a future DS. I wouldn't worry about it being shortened to Dec presonally.

BitOfFun Sat 08-Aug-09 18:40:51

Every Declan I have known has been A Naughty Little Boy...but I still like the name smile

PurplePoppy Sat 08-Aug-09 20:20:57

Oo yes, great name. Makes me think of Declan O'Hara from Jilly Cooper's Rivals, who is super clever and sexy in a poetic yet rugged way...right off to re-read Rivals again now

snala Sat 08-Aug-09 22:43:27

Thank you! Only 2 days til I get to meet him grin

pollywobbledoodle Sat 08-Aug-09 22:54:54
