Just noseying on FB and a friend of a friend just had a baby on Thurs and called her that hmm

What do you think?

Tidey Sun 02-Aug-09 23:55:35

Looks a little indecisive, like they couldn't choose between Alexandra and Electra.

Claire2009 Mon 03-Aug-09 00:05:08

Yes, quite odd..

Did they have Carmen as a middle/first name?

scottishmummy Mon 03-Aug-09 00:08:27

i think you should say congratulations and smile

and hope to hell she doesn't do MN and see you bitching about her name

AitchTwoOh Mon 03-Aug-09 00:09:46

friend of a friend, sm. claire doesn't know her, presumably.

scottishmummy Mon 03-Aug-09 00:12:58

however given it is unusual it is potentially indiscreet to garner opinion upon

AitchTwoOh Mon 03-Aug-09 00:15:57

it is a pretty rubbish name, maybe it'd be no bad thing for them to see a straw poll... there's still time to change it.

scottishmummy Mon 03-Aug-09 00:19:28

that is thing about names.Princess Tiaamii sounds unique to some.gauche to others

my point is,name in question is unusual and well it is a done deed no point ripping the arse out of it now

AitchTwoOh Mon 03-Aug-09 00:21:03

it sounds unique to everyone, because it is unique. whether you think that is gauche or not is a different matter.

not a done deal, plenty of people change their minds about baby names.

scottishmummy Mon 03-Aug-09 00:23:55

no don't misinterpret what i say atich. i made example of a name (not the name in question) which the famous parents obviously like.others don't

i have not actually stated an opinion on name in question

AitchTwoOh Mon 03-Aug-09 00:46:44

i'm not. would you prefer i'd said 'whether one thinks it is gauche'?

blinks Mon 03-Aug-09 01:29:22

sounds like a car

nappyaddict Mon 03-Aug-09 02:37:21

I think it is a nice name but prefer the spelling Electra.

ClaudiaSchiffer Mon 03-Aug-09 03:02:16

Obv not a classical scholar or interested in Psychoanalysis. Electra complex is the female form of Oedipus complex ie in love with father and wants to kill mother . . .

See here.

Or is it nothing to do with that and in fact her dad is called Alec?? wink

MamaLazarou Mon 03-Aug-09 10:07:09

It's not the worst name I have ever heard.

maggievirgo Mon 03-Aug-09 11:02:43

it sounds like some new energy company to me. Switch over to Alectra and get £100 off your first bill.

I like Allegra though. Electra has a bit too much baggage.

HollyBunda Mon 03-Aug-09 11:08:41

love Elektra, but not with the A.

courtneylovescox Mon 03-Aug-09 11:12:03

sounds like an electrical component
