Is it from Arian, would have to be blonde? Mind you, I think many name origins are lost now and it doesn't matter if your Russell isn't a red-head etc. It is a lovely sounding name. Quite fairy-like.

if my mum had her way I would have been called Oriana, which I guess is pretty much the same. Always used to wish I had been called that when I was growing up as it is much nicer than my actual name. Love it.

Prefer Arianne. Less is more sometimes, and this is one of those times.

I would have loved it, I think, had I never read Harry Potter. Now I just think Dumbledore. Sorry!

I like it. Would you say 'Ar-ee-anna- or 'Ar-ee-ah-na'?

I love it and am jealous you can have it! We have friends with a daughter called Ariana and it's just such a beautiful name and not too over used but at the same time, not one of those chavy made up names either.
Everyone who hears her name loves it too.

It is lovely, unless you are French. Sorry if anyone reading this is French and called Arianna, but I think it gets all swallowed up in the accent.
