What could Pippa be short for except for Phillipa?

Love Pippa but not as keen on Phillipa and not sure Pippa is a "grown-up" enough name iykwim......

I suppose it could be short for Phyllida-but I prefer Philippa.

dd1 middle name is Pippa and we used it in its own right, in fact I know 2 other Pippa's who have it as their full name (we used it as my Dads name is Pip and I was desperate to have his name in her name and closest I could get - him and her have a very very special bond and I am so glad we chose it)

I would think it's almost always Phillipa. Maybe Phyllis or philamena (sp?)

Sorry, Philippa not Phillipa

Philomena, though I have never heard it as a nickname for that.

I thought it was a name in its own right?

Thank you LofW, yours is the correct spelling.

Maybe Penelope. Paloma?

Philippa

Thanks everyone. I figured it was Phillipa but wanted to see if the combined brain power of MN could come up with anything else!

eandh was thinking of using Pippa as a middle name as well (first name Elizabeth after my Nana) but using Pippa as her day to day name, but not sure if that's too confusing....

I would have loved Pippa as dd1 first name sadly it really sounds awful with our surname (Parks) she always tells people her name is Ellie Pippa! (dd2 middle name is after dh Nan!)

My dd2 is a Pippa... though we always call her Pip... or pippy... i love the name although it can sound a bit horsey!!!
