Bear in mind I am 12 days overdue and about to leave for my induction in the next couple of hours. I WILL defend fiercely. grin

I may also be a bit in labour so criticise at your peril. You hear that soupy?!

FlappyTheBat Tue 21-Jul-09 10:47:20

Victoria?

HolyGuacamole Tue 21-Jul-09 10:48:23

Hmmmmm. Not sure hobbgoblin. Where I come from, plum can be a bit of an insult - to say someone is a plum is to say they are silly or daft......

No offense though grin

Good luck with the birth!!!

BonsoirAnna Tue 21-Jul-09 10:48:29

Plum is a nickname for Victoria.

PlumBumMum Tue 21-Jul-09 10:49:21

Of course I think its a superb name grin

Mintyy Tue 21-Jul-09 10:49:23

I quite like it. But, really, only if you are very very posh.

(good luck btw! smile)

MovingOutOfBlighty Tue 21-Jul-09 10:49:35

Good luck with the baby.

But fgs please make Plum short for something. It is a cute nickname or shortening but your dear LO is going to grow up to be 50 one day and unless you want her to stride about all day in Joules clothing, braying at her horses I think it is a very odd name.

Overmydeadbody Tue 21-Jul-09 10:49:54

I think as a nickname it is fine.

As a real name it would be a bit cruel. What if she grows up to be rather short and dumpy? It would be too cruel.

cheesesarnie Tue 21-Jul-09 10:50:18

i love it

VinegarTits Tue 21-Jul-09 10:50:37

God no, are you delarious?

Good luck with the birth grin

Astrophe Tue 21-Jul-09 10:51:07

nup. It doesn't sound namey, in the way that some nouns can. And rhymes far to easily with bum, which wont be a good thing.

shonaspurtle Tue 21-Jul-09 10:51:10

Call her Victoria and use Plum for a nickname.

Plum is used to mean daft round here as well - "you plum" (not you)

Marthasmama Tue 21-Jul-09 10:54:13

When I was at school, plum was another name for testicle. Ahhh, look at baby Bollock. grin

Deemented Tue 21-Jul-09 10:54:38

You've been watching too much Balamory, haven't you?

hobbgoblin Tue 21-Jul-09 10:55:05

I could re-visit Velvet from another thread of mine and combine?

hobbgoblin Tue 21-Jul-09 10:55:22

I could re-visit Velvet from another thread of mine and combine?

ExpositionDesMains Tue 21-Jul-09 10:57:13

A Velvet Plum is definitely a bollock. grin

Plum round these here parts is a fool/somebody a bit silly.

Victoria Plum rocks though.

hobbgoblin Tue 21-Jul-09 10:59:41

SoH, is it really? Woudl Plum Velvet avoid the association?

Plum is bollock, Velvet is fanjo related. What is wrong with me and the genitalia fixation I wonder..?

I could do Victoria Plum, but is a bit waaaaaaay out possible.

Tinker Tue 21-Jul-09 11:00:14

I quite like it blush As a word, it's lovely. In late, overdue pregnancy I toyed with Cherry (as a middle name ) blush again.

MovingOutOfBlighty Tue 21-Jul-09 11:02:04

I think Plum is simply a 'shortening' for Victoria.
Depends on whether you like Victoria.
I have a long name that I am not that keen on for my DD so I could have the shortened version but the long one as back up just incase she hated it one day.

abitclueless Tue 21-Jul-09 11:06:29

I like it. Good luck

ExpositionDesMains Tue 21-Jul-09 11:15:51

I do like it acksherly. I know two Cherrys in rl Tinker, one has a sister named Brandy.

My only reservation is that 'Plum' to me means fool.

Know of a baby Japonica born recently. That would fit your genitalia fixation when abbreviated. grin

MamaLazarou Tue 21-Jul-09 11:47:43

Awful, awful, awful, for so many reasons.

Thunderduck Tue 21-Jul-09 11:57:21

It's awful.

suwoo Tue 21-Jul-09 12:04:49

I actually really like it. It is very posh though.

Good luck smile
