Lydia for a girl obviously, and Marcus for a boy?

Like? dislike? bland?
anything else in the same style?

Both nice - not too over-used, but not upyerarse "let's be unique" either.

hey, BOF, that's a good brief to follow!

I have a Lydia, and still love it. She's the only one in school atm (was one other who left last year whilst DD was in Nursery) I've heard the odd one or two when we've been out, but it's fairly distinctive still.

I quite like Marcus too.

I love Lydia but I don't much care for Marcus.

I don't really like Marcus. Lydia is nice though ( my baby sisters name).

My sister is the only Lydia in her secondary school and DS2 only has one in his primary, so not too over used either.

Sorry don't like either of them.

I know that this is going to sound silly but I think they are ok as adults names but I just don't like them for children.

I really like Lydia. I don't 'love' Marcus, but its a fine, sensible, proper name. I know one and he is a little bugger, but in a nice way.

I love love love Lydia. It is fast becoming my favourite girls name and I wish I had thought of it for dd (who is Emily)

I like Marcus too. Ds's friend has a 6 year old brother called Marcus - great name!

DS3 was going to be Lydia - I love it.

Not too keen on Marcus myself but, as names go, it's fine!

Lydia teapot - I'm so sorry but it's all I can ever think of then I hear that name, although perhaps it's because the regional accent up here would pronounce lid of a teapot/whatever that way.

Marcus is lovely...

OMG Lydia was my top choice for a DD but I ended up with a DS...and guess what he's called

I love Lydia. Did consider it (loved it ever since heard the Dean Friedman song of the same name ) but had a ds. We also considered Marcus ut decided against only because the s sound at the end was wrong with our surname.

So a big thumbsup from me

My name is Lydia - in fact named after that same Dean Friedman song....I'm one of the only people I know who loves her name. You do get called 'Lyd' all the time, but it's still fairly unusual (though not so unusual people can't spell it). I really appreciate my mum calling me it (she had some terrible other girls names!). I thinks it suited me as a kid and adult - I hope this helps.
