Rowan as a girl's name?

In light of a recent thread about boys' names I am now feeling a little concerned that Rowan is seen as a boys name only. I am expecting DC3 who will be DD1 and have Rowan on my list of possible names.
I am nearly 38 weeks though so may be a little over sensitive ! The other name on the list is Darcy/Darcey (not sure to have the 'e' or not!).
Is Rowan a no for a girl?

Its my name and i always have conversations which go
"okay, can i take your name please?"
"Rowan"
"great, and your first name?"

im not sold on it personally, but i do get compliments on it fairly regularly.

DD2 would have been Rowan, had she been a boy. It had never occurred to me that it could be a girl's name too.

I love it for a girl more than for a boy.

I LOVE this name for girls! I know 3 of them and it's lovely. I knew a boy Rowan at school but do see it as more of a girls name.

If DS1 had been a girl he would have been Rowan or Rowanne. Bet you can't guess what his name is .

I love Rowan, but only for a girl. If we ever have a girl she will be named Rowan

I love it

Generally I think unisex names work a lot better for boys rather than girls i.e. Ashley, Hayden, Robin etc I like for boys but seem harsh for girls.

But Rowan is the exception I think, it's pretty.

I know 1 Rowan... and she is a girl, though she isn't a child. I like it.

I love it for a girl and would have considered it for DD3 had our friend not already used it

its lovely and I'm not of the camp that doesn't like boys names for girls etc, our DD3 has a name traditionally used for a boy and she is an absolute doll and has made it her own

if you love it use it or you'll regret it

Thank you all for your comments - more yeses than nos, hooray . I don't know any little ones of either sex called Rowan but know of 2 grown up girls and 1 grown up boy. I always thought I would call a DD Darcy but finally getting my chance after 2 boys I think I might just prefer Rowan...

It can be both. But I prefer it for a boy
and I'm not too keen on Rowena

I love it as a girls name, not too wacky, yet not too dullsville.

I love it as a girl's name. So much nicer than Darcy too.

DS's class is called Rowan. All of the classes at his school are named after trees.
