What do you think of the name Kester (for a boy, obviously)?

suwoo Wed 08-Jul-09 21:13:27

I hate to be rude, but it's awful. Sorry.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight Wed 08-Jul-09 21:14:03

janeite Wed 08-Jul-09 21:14:28

Tamarto Wed 08-Jul-09 21:14:28

differentID Wed 08-Jul-09 21:15:16

I like Kester. There was a Kester in my sisters year at school. Quite a nice kid.

NintyZelda Wed 08-Jul-09 21:15:19

Sorry, not one for me, have to agree with suwoo

wuglet Wed 08-Jul-09 21:15:39

and not made up - is a diminutive of Christopher

(I only know this from Chalet School books!)

differentID Wed 08-Jul-09 21:15:58

Kester is an old English version of Christopher.

EachPeachPearMum Wed 08-Jul-09 21:16:38

ShortButNotSweet Wed 08-Jul-09 21:20:29

Somebody suggested Kit a few days ago, as a shortening of Christopher. I like that much more.

Sorry EachPeach!

HumphreyCobbler Wed 08-Jul-09 21:32:40

I know it from the Chalet school books too. There are loads of us obsessives out there...

I think it is quite nice actually.

Bonneville Wed 08-Jul-09 21:39:41

Awful name. Sounds made-up.
Made me think immediately of uncle Fester.

worley Wed 08-Jul-09 21:54:47

ditto bonneville, what i was going to write but she had already said it!

ravenAK Wed 08-Jul-09 21:59:41

There's a rather creepy & manipulative Kester (based on Richard II) in a quite good Susan Howatch novel - that'd put me off.

Christopher with Kit for short?

MrsEricBana Wed 08-Jul-09 22:08:33

Yup me too re Uncle Fester - as soon as I read title I thought of Adams Family - sorry. Love Kit.

limonchik Wed 08-Jul-09 22:11:07

I really like it!

duchesse Wed 08-Jul-09 22:20:30

It's not made up, it's Old Testament.

fwiw I know a 9 yr old called this. He keeps his hair very long and is very often mistaken for a girl because nobody has ever heard of the name before.

BayeauxT Thu 09-Jul-09 09:31:37

I knew a Kester at school - like it much!

missmem Thu 09-Jul-09 09:33:41

Truly awful shock
