Boy's name to go with Aidan...

Hi,

Found out today that DC2 is going to be a boy! We are really chuffed! DS1 is Aidan and we now need a boy's name to go with it. Surname ends with -lee sound and two syllabus so don't want any similar ending sound names. Also, his middle name will be two syllabus as well and a bit unusual as we are using something from my culture. And nothing too popular (though I can see Aidan is creeping up the popularity list ). I kinda think we ended up with the perfect name for DS1 so a bit short of ideas for DS2.

I really like Tristan but thinks Aidan and Tristan is a bit much. Like Owen as well but not 100% sold on it. Lucas I like but too popular now I think and DH not sold on that one... Yeeks! HELP! Thanks!

Ax

Always loved the name Matthew but not sure if it's too common for me... Will still consider it though - Aidan and Matthew...

Don't think I am brave enough to do Flynn though it does sound good with our surname. Adam is a lovely name but DH doesn't want another A initial in the house! LOL.

We have a Connor Aidan (that's just the one DS) - so I think they go together perfectly!

Finlay won't do though it's a lovely name as DH's cousin already has a little boy with that name.

Surname starts with 'R' and always feel funny about having a first name ending with the first letter of surname... Is that silly?

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

I was wandering in to say Luca or lucas... not normally something I'd pick but it somehow 'goes'. Also wondering Mark/Marcus, Matthew, and have no idea why but Jeremy....

gigglewitch - I think you have the right idea there. I do like Lucas but DH thinks it's an Italian-type name... Don't think I like Jeremy much but am liking all your other suggestions so far.

I think Tristan would be ok - it's not too similar at all.
Flynn does sound good too, and I love Elliot.

Cameron
Jude
Jolyon (Joe-lee-on)
Jesse (I like it, but I know dads aren't usually keen!)

Well as Aidan is an Irish name I would say another Irish name would be the best fit.

I have 2 brothers. One is Aidan and the other Conan.

Tristan doesn't fit. It's too posh english. Lucas doesn't sound right either.

Name I would say that go are:

Eoin (the Irish version) or Owen
Patrick
Ciaran
Conor
Cillian
Daire (pronounced Dara)
Finbar
Lorcan
Niall
Odhran (pronounced Oran)
Oisin
Ronan
Ruairi

Neither DH and I are Irish , Aidan was just the only name we could agree on. LOL. So probably don't mind a non-Irish name.

thell - I am feeling your choices in the names so far! Nothing strikes me still though as 'the one'. Yet...

BunnyLebowski - I really like Owen. Aidan and Owen goes well together I think. But I have a good friend who has two brothers - you, you guess it - Aidan and Owen! LOL. The other names could be a bit too 'Irish' for me!

LilyBolero and jellybeans - Liking some of your suggestions too.

Am surprised at how many nice names are being suggested on this thread so far! Thanks all.

What about Oran then? Sounds kinda like Owen but is that wee bit different and imo very cool!

The Oran spelling is an accepted version so you wouldn't have to go with the (far too many consonants) Odhran spelling.

Or going away from the Irish connection how about

Noah
Elias
Jackson
Nevin (ok this one's Irish )
Quinn
Joseph
Ethan
Dylan
