I like it - DH thinks it is an 'evil' name!!

Alternatives on our list are -

DH wants to call DS Skywalker. . . . .

I prefer George.

To be a sibling to Charles.

MamaG Sun 28-Jun-09 12:09:53

Oh I like Rufus. What about Angus? Sounds similar-ish and goes well with Charles

slackrunner Sun 28-Jun-09 12:12:27

I like Rufus - although it does remind me of Rufus Sewell, who always strikes me as a little caddish.

Prefer George tbh.

I like Rufus, it reminds me of Rufus Wainwright who I love. I wouldn't say it is an evil name at all!

No it isn't an evil name at all. I love it.

How funny- I was going to say, no it's not villainish at all, it's a bit Hugo IMO- ie posh- then I saw that's on your list too.

I like it.

LetThemEatCake Sun 28-Jun-09 15:32:29

Rufus is a lovely name - perhaps a tad caddish (dh reckons that Rufus and Jasper are 'posh bastard' names - as in, caddish, not born-out-of-wedlock) but that's no bad thing.

Afraid I don't like Hugo or Wilbur at all.

We had a brief, if-only style, flirtation with the name Anakin, so can kind of see the appeal of Skywalker, lol

cyteen Sun 28-Jun-09 15:35:57

Not so much a villain, more of a cad. A stylish, charming bounder who'll shag you senseless before stealing your jewellery.

Precisely! (Cyteen) - and you would remember him forever! Think Rufus (and Jasper) are great names. Maybe slightly posh, but not at all poncetastic.

Thunderduck Sun 28-Jun-09 19:23:32

I love the name Anakin too Letthem.blush

TheChilliMoose Sun 28-Jun-09 19:35:30

No, Rufus is not an evil name. It's a dog's name.
Skywalker is cool, though, if you are brave enough. I would seriously consider Anakin too.

hocuspontas Sun 28-Jun-09 19:37:45

Rhymes with doofus. So no, don't even consider it

TheChilliMoose Sun 28-Jun-09 19:38:10

An extremely good reason.

LetThemEatCake Sun 28-Jun-09 20:24:17

a few takers for Anakin!!! I am off to start a thread on it...

modrin Sun 28-Jun-09 20:30:41

makes me think of Rufus Roughchops the beaver in Whacky Races in the 70s

Momdeguerre Sun 28-Jun-09 20:31:23

DH and I hd the debate over whether Skywalker was even a 'name' - the Bounty website does not record it - BUT - to my horror - it does have Darth registered. . . .

DH also looked for C3PO.

Like the idea of having a son who was a bit of a rake, think Jasper is very nice too bt DH says it reminds him of a biscuit!!

dizzydixies Sun 28-Jun-09 20:51:36

I love Rufus and Hugo smile

Rufus is a great name... for a dog!

piscesmoon Sun 28-Jun-09 22:07:30

I think it is great for a dog-a large dog.
George is the best of the bunch.

slackrunner Sun 28-Jun-09 22:18:51

Yep - my stepfather's dog is in fact called Rufus lol.

MamaLazarou Mon 29-Jun-09 12:24:59

Rufus is a brilliant name. Like in Bill &Ted's Excellent Adventure: "Listen to this dude Rufus: he knows what he's talking about".

I love it.

I have a son called Rufus George - it suits him! He is funny, can't say his own name (he's 2!), but we love his name!

Rufus is a fabulous name
