What do you think of the name Myrtle?

OK, i am ready - give it to me straight!

Possibly Jean as a mn.

Iklboo Fri 26-Jun-09 14:24:29

Sorry I thought of Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter

Still - I don't get a say, tis your LO

Fimbo Fri 26-Jun-09 14:24:39

Truly truly awful.

Don't mind Jean for a middle name.

PortBlacksandResident Fri 26-Jun-09 14:25:40

I like it - it's pretty but doesn't end in a ee ie ey etc. Maud has a similar feel.

My first mini was called Myrtle <nostalgic>.

tummytickler Fri 26-Jun-09 14:26:43

I have resisted Harry Potter in all ints forms so i have no idea who Moaning Myrtle is? Is she a big character? Would a young Myrtle be reminded of this forever and by everyone?

Meglet Fri 26-Jun-09 14:27:45

i love the name.

foxinsocks Fri 26-Jun-09 14:28:11

we had a myrtle the turtle

and friend birtle

ChocolateRabbit Fri 26-Jun-09 14:29:15

Myrtle in Harry Potter is a very annoying ghost who lives in the toilets - regularly gets flushed.

Moaning myrtle was my first thought too.

Iklboo Fri 26-Jun-09 14:29:51

Moaning Myrtle is a ghost that lives in the girls' toilets and, well, moans all the time (as in whinges)

gloomysue Fri 26-Jun-09 14:32:18

I really like it.

PortBlacksandResident Fri 26-Jun-09 14:34:06

Not a big character though - i've read all the books and it never occurred to me.

Ondine Fri 26-Jun-09 15:24:20

The Harry Potter thing would stop me. 90% of children read those farking books and to be named after the toilet ghost is not the best of starts.

What about Sorrel? Or Maeve or Martha?

womma Fri 26-Jun-09 15:51:58

Myrtle Jean is lovely.

I used to know someone with a mini called Myrtle...I'm sure it's not you PB!

PortBlacksandResident Fri 26-Jun-09 16:04:03

There's prob quite a few Myrtle Minis out there. I was at Loughborough at the time - ring any bells? grin.

PortBlacksandResident Fri 26-Jun-09 16:06:00

Oh and i painted her psychedelic - so a bit of a give away.

piscesmoon Fri 26-Jun-09 16:19:22

It suits a mini. I think that a person would have to be about 60yrs before they 'grew' into it!

stillstanding Fri 26-Jun-09 16:20:36

No, seriously, no

niccibabe Fri 26-Jun-09 16:26:29

How about one of these instead?

Fimbo Fri 26-Jun-09 16:29:11

It's also the name of a street where I live

MamaLazarou Fri 26-Jun-09 16:48:46

It's a brilliant name.

Thunderduck Fri 26-Jun-09 16:58:16

Noooo. It's awful.

elvislives Fri 26-Jun-09 17:19:59

You can't be serious?!

What's with this fashion for Jean too? It's ghastly.

mumzy Fri 26-Jun-09 17:35:01

Moaning Myrtle is a jokey character in Harry Potter and not a good one I think the potential for teasing will be high

tummytickler Fri 26-Jun-09 17:35:33

Oh - it was me posting about Jean a while back too - it is still in our top 3 (along with Hilda and Aphra).
Maybe I am ghastly grin

MIAonline Fri 26-Jun-09 17:49:43

The first thing that popped into my head was myrtle the turtle.

Really don't like it, sorry.
