Baby names

we just can't decide!

ds3 was born on fri and is yet to have a name, poor little love.

shortlist is (in no particular order):

Noam
Lars
Nico
Soren
Lucien

please help me choose one. the name I absolutely adore has been well and truly vetoed by DP. so we're compromising and as a result have these 5 names that we both like but now can't choose between.

a couple of noteworthy points:

  1. constructive criticism welcome. downright rudeness and pointless "i hate them all" posts really not necessary (please. i have just given birth and am hormonal as it is!)

  1. yes, we are aware that Noam could sound like gnome. we have discussed it and the name is still on the list.

  1. PLEASE no more suggestions! we've only just managed to narrow my list of 21 names down to this few lol. don't need any more confusion

I like Soren and Lucian most out of your list. If it was Noah instead of Noam I would have gone for that. Nico and Lars I don't like at all, sorry.

Best of luck to you

Like them all except Noam.

Ooh I love them all except for Nico...not sure why I'm not keen on that one. Lucien is probably my fave.

I like Nico best. But that could be because I have a 10 week old called Nicholas who I'm sure will be called Nico at some point.
Congratulations, by the way!

Firstly congrats. For me Noam and Soren are a bit out there, not keen on Nico for a boy (am thinking of the woman from the Velvet Underground there, showing my age!), love Lucien, and for me Lars just makes me think of super gorgeous hunks so if I were him I'd want that one! Good luck.

Pick the one you think passes the tea time test - if you can't shout them in for their tea loudly using the name don't pick it.

noam

Tinker · 15/06/2009 19:55

My only reservation about Soren is that it should have one of those os with a line through it and that changes the pronunciation

Lars, then Lucien.

Agree with MrsEricBana about Lars being a hunk's name.

Lucien first
Soren
Nico

Sorry, don't like the others, though Noam's kinda cool

Congratulations!

Soren (with the same reservation as Tinker) and Lucien are both nice.

Isn't Noam a brand of sweets?

hmm yes, maybe i need more people telling me they're awful.
or maybe I should just use them all! last baby after all lol

tinker you're right about the line in the O. think it makes it more of a Soaren kind of sound.

have done the calling in for tea and shouting at them in the supermarket tests and all seem to pass. hmmmm

Noam Chomsky, philosopher, linguist (I think)

I always find this tricky without knowing the surname, but my favourite is Lucien.

Really not sure about Noam, could lead to lots of misspelt invitations etc.
