Definitely Joyce Isabella as Isabella's are ten a penny.

Go for it.

womma Fri 12-Jun-09 12:08:24

Very nice! Joyce sounds really lovely to me all of a sudden.

Himbo Fri 12-Jun-09 12:09:43

I prefer it the other way round or

how about Jocelyn?

differentID Fri 12-Jun-09 12:12:50

Joyce Isabella is a very pretty name. I always love names that sound "old"

gagamama Fri 12-Jun-09 12:45:21

I prefer Joy to Joyce, but that wouldn't work with Isabella. It would be a lovely nickname though. I think it's pretty.

georgiemum Fri 12-Jun-09 12:47:05

I think it sounds better the other way around. Depends on the surname I suppose.

Good choice being classic and old fashioned but not in common usage ie Grace/Olivia/Daisy

KERALA1 Fri 12-Jun-09 21:23:32

There are lots and lots of Isabellas so if that bothers you don't switch it at the last minute!

boodleboot Fri 12-Jun-09 22:47:42

i have a lovely friend who is called Joyce - i think i prefer joy tho to be honest.

jellybeans Fri 12-Jun-09 22:50:43

prefer isabella joyce, Joyce too old fashioned.

piscesmoon Fri 12-Jun-09 23:07:33

I prefer Isabella Joyce.

RosieMBanks Fri 12-Jun-09 23:25:50

Joyce is a pretty name, but sounds a little old-fashioned....although I love the Latin meaning 'Joy'.
One of my favourite childhood books was 'Towers in the Mist' by Elizabeth Goudge - Joyeuce Leigh is one of the characters, and I think the spelling is prettier than 'Joyce'.

sugarplumfairy Fri 12-Jun-09 23:33:32

My DD2 is called Isabella Joy, there isn't many Isabella's at her school and she likes Joy as it actually means something.

piscesmoon Sat 13-Jun-09 08:07:43

I think that Joy is much nicer than Joyce.

Tambajam Sat 13-Jun-09 08:11:33

I like Joyce. It's different.

My friend is called Joy and is very bored of being told to 'cheer up' so she suits her name every time she looks lost in thought.

IDidntRaiseAThief Sat 13-Jun-09 08:26:15

trying to hard.

Joyce is my sisters name. I like it because it is not very common. I think Isabella Joyce sounds better. However, there are too many Isabellas. My dd has got 4 in her class of 26 children.

loveofotters Sat 13-Jun-09 10:08:48

We can't use Isabella as the first name and we like that Joyce is different to the norm.

Glad most of you like it.I feel very reassured that we're making the right decision.

dizzydixies Sat 13-Jun-09 10:35:17

completely disagree there are too many isabellas, I think its dependant on where you are because we have one and have not heard of another one yet

Joyce Isabella is lovely congratulations smile

Nancy66 Sat 13-Jun-09 17:19:39

Oh god Joyce is a terrible name! It's up there with Pauline and Marjory.....

Sidge Sat 13-Jun-09 21:16:00

Isabella is a lovely name.

Joyce is not.

totalmisfit Sat 13-Jun-09 21:16:44
