Any thoughts? I love it and can't understand why it hasn't had a revival.

My neice is called Cecila - nickname Cissy. I think both Celia and Cecila are great names but really not keen on the shortening to Cissy.

My DS1 dinner lady is called Celia he thinks she is fab! She's in her 60's and has taught him how to hold a knife and fork and cut food properly!

I like it. You've probably started the revival right here.

Ha.... it doesn't mean he uses those skills!

Just he tells me how he does it at school!

There is that Swift poem which might haunt her - "Celia, Celia, Celia sh*ts" it goes.
that would probably out me off.

I like it. It means something to do with music, I think - is she the patron saint of music maybe?

Cecilia means BLIND, so not a very nice association.....

Too bad, because it sounds lovely.

Actually, it does appear to derive from the Latin for Blind - just googled this:

Cecilia (pronounced /sɨˈsiːliə/ ses-SEE-lee-ə; Italian pronunciation: [tʃeˈtʃilja])
is a female given name of Latin origin meaning the way for the blind. It is derived from a Roman family name, which was itself derived from the Latin word caecus, meaning blind.

Love Cecilia and Cecily and Celia. Like Cecily the best but this is probably because I used to know a very strong, kind and intelligent one that used to encourage me to travel the world.
