I think it's a Spanish name.
I like Flora too.

Lovely. Prefer it to Mirabelle, actually. Less poncy. I know a Spanish woman called Maribel and her sister is Marisol, which I also think is incredibly pretty.

all those Elles on the end of names are like candy floss imo. I prefer the look of just one l.

Maribel is a spanish name. lots of spanish names are made of 2 names split and joined up.

I think I quite like it

Maribel does look hashed together. Don't like Flora either, sorry.

in that case, a lot of bonafide spanish names are 'hashed together' then.

Are they? I was just giving my opinion on Maribel, foxy. I thought that was what this topic was for? Shall I retract my comment?
My boy's name hasn't done well in this topic but I'm not getting irritable about it.

Yes, Maria is Maria-Luisa, for example. Very common to have a two-name furst name and then shorten it down in Spain.

Sorry, Marisa

My typing has gone to pot. I can spell first, honest!

It looks masculine, not sure why. I like Maria.
My aunt was called Marisa, she never liked it.

no need to retract anything, just that lots of names in spanish are contractions of 2 names. maybe you are unaware of that and it helps to let people know before they make statements like 'hashed together' which comes across negatively.

foxytocin · 06/06/2009 15:45

negatively uninformed

charmedjane · 06/06/2009 15:56

It is so obviously a Spanish name and is obviously different names put together. I don't have to like that sort of name, that is my opinion.

I see I need careful giving negative opinions on any names here.

You should visit my thread and tell them off for being negative and uninformed about Roland except I asked for opinions and appreciate all even the bad ones.

really? i didnt' realise it was obvious. sorry about pointing out the obvious then.

Yes you were pointing out the obvious.
Apology accepted.

I like the Lidl strawberry Maribell jam.
Not keen on the names.

How about Mariella?
