i was dead set on the name george but a friend who has just had her baby has taken that name.
being as we spend alot of time with each other (she has a DD same age as my DS and they have known each other since birth) i dont feel comfortable in using it.

so alternatives? i cant settle on ANYTHING, and ive only got 6 weeks to go!!

ah forgot to say my DC are Thomas and Ellen, so no 'E' or 'T' names... surname is a O'D name.. so nothing that sounds like od or ed cos it sounds weird!

The only boys name we agreed on was Ben, we had a girl so it was moot anyway.

I have similar, I have three and my only girl and one of my boys have the same initial.

I figured it didn't matter so much, as one would be Miss and one Mr. It's hard enough anyway, thinking of a name.

oh diamond i agree.
thing is its a bit more complicated as Thomas biological dad is not the same as ellen and this one (met DH when pregnant) so i wouldnt want him to feel anymore left out.

or am i being over cautious?

Natty why not let him pick the middle name then so he has a say in the baby?

being a bit over cautious but its understandable

thats an idea, i might go for that.. mind you at three is he old enough to understand do you think?

Just go with George, I don't get this "my friend called her child it so I can't use it" thing. It doesn't matter! Should I dump my friend who called her daughter Georgia in full knowledge that I already had a son called George? Don't be daft!

I agree with the above, if George is your out and out favourite- use it. He will have the name for life, your friends may come and go or move blablabla, but your child will have this name forever so it's got to be a good one and one that you really love.

Otherwise, maybe Henry? James?
Elliot is sweet I don't think Thomas will notice that it starts with 'E' but may notice in time that it starts 'Ell..' which makes it very similar to DD's name?

Sorry if I am over-complicating matters!

I would stick with George-if you like it, that is all that matters.

not over complicating things.. picking a name is VERY complicated!

it is unlikely this friend will leave my life anytime soon, she was my head bridemaid and ive know her years.
also both babies being the same age practially and growing up together will be confusing for them, as they would never know who we were calling.

i already have this problem with thomas having a cousin of the same name...
