Not the a's which bother me, it's just the similarity to Ave Maria which would irk me.

Early pregnancy hormones, but I did have that hymn blasting in my head when I did the test, and then the name popped in my head so thought it was a sign!!

Twas the name of my best friend in school. Hadn't thought about the hymn but now that you mention it... How often would you use both names together though?

Custardo - that is what I had in my head for NO apparent reason.

Think I'm going mad.

Haha, I think either name is fine just not together, for the Ave Mariiia reason.
Use Eva it's lovely, but with a different middle name.

Also- with Maria as a middle name, it's frequently traditionally used as a middle name for boys in spain and other countries, so I kind of irrationally worry that using it as a middle name will provoke taunts of 'haha you're a boy' for the child. Unlikely here though. Hmm...

Eva Marie? Eva Sofia? Eva Lucia? Eva Rizzo?

Sorry just reminds me of Ave Maria...

I like it - doesn't jar to me. But you could use Evelina Mary as an alternative.

Eva is nice but do use another middle name, too close to Ave Maria.

mickeylou · 04/06/2009 14:50

i would go for Eva Marie instead of Maria.

No - as others have said, it is too close to Ave Maria. And a bit boring.

I think it's lovely.

I prefer Anna-Maria, though.

Also, Marie isn't half as nice as Maria.

Marie = plain girl who works at supermarket checkout
Maria = gorgeous girl with dark eyes and wiggly hips

I did once know a French girl called Marie-Eve (pronounced Marry-Eve)

Sounds like a hymn! But each pretty names on their own.

It sounds like a dodgy Eurovision Song Contest entrant.

My neice is Anna-Maria (as in one name, not a first and middle name) and I still sing Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnaaaaa Marrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyaaaaaa every time I think of her!

Bit too much of a mouthful I think...

I like it, I don't think the Ave Maria thing matters as how often will people actualy ue both names together? Both beautiful names and they flow together really nicely.

We have an Eva Maria
and an Ava Maria - she is actually named from the prayer

Both beautiful names
