lou33 Sun 31-May-09 16:59:46

i wanted it for dd1 but i had to settle for it as her middle name

Rindercella Sun 31-May-09 17:00:34

My oh my...

Why oh why...

Actually, I really quite like it grin

cookielove Sun 31-May-09 17:01:26

i think its very pretty and sounds quite delicate

slowreadingprogress Sun 31-May-09 18:02:21

cookie that's funny as I find this quite a hard, ugly name - not at all pretty but I think a really stylish girl with a lot of chutzpah could carry it off ok. But it's not for me, obv!

gloomysue Sun 31-May-09 18:26:02

I love it, also like Delia.

OracleInaCoracle Sun 31-May-09 18:31:21

i love it. think its a truly beautiful name for a girl who's sassy and intelligent. dh hates it though.

DarrellRivers Sun 31-May-09 18:31:34

Do you think where ever she went , people would sing to her though?
Quite cool in a way though

boodleboot Sun 31-May-09 18:46:28

well when i suggested it to my ten year old daughter she started seeing the PLain White T's song Hey there Delilah not the Tom Jones song.....besides you'd only do it the once to her....otherwise you'd look like a total knobber if you continually sung a song of someones name to them wouldn't you?? once is funny and all that....

i just think it is pretty and a bit of a twist on the Lily's and the Lila's....

lou33 Sun 31-May-09 18:58:55

lol dd is lily delilah , neither names were really about much at the time, she is 17 now

boodleboot Sun 31-May-09 19:05:50

i LOVE lily lou33 but there is just so many about dd is Ellie and there was hardly any Ellies 10 yrs ago....annoying when things get really fashionable isn't it....ha.

we kind of wanted Lil to be in the name somewhere tho as deceased MIL was Lil [lillian]

What does your DD think of Delilah? did people sing it to her?

Thunderduck Sun 31-May-09 19:08:56

I don't like it and it's almost inevitable that people would sing Tom Jone's Delilah to her, or Hey There Delilah.
And it isn't at all fun having people do that. It's incredibly irritating.

19fran76 Sun 31-May-09 19:10:14

Delilah is a good choice of name smile. I think it's funky too.

jofeb04 Sun 31-May-09 19:13:28

as long as your not Welsh your fine (imagine 70,000 welsh rugby fans singing it!)

lou33 Sun 31-May-09 19:14:47

noone has ever sung it to her but myself, because i used to love the song when i ws a kid (and still do)

she quite likes both songs you mentioned though

Kaylo Mon 01-Jun-09 09:59:20

I think it's a great choice of name, and I think the song references are cool too - it's pretty, sassy, funky. But definitely not hard or ugly, hard and ugly are names like Agnes, Enid, Margaret etc. IMO anyway

AuntyAnna Mon 01-Jun-09 10:05:11

Think its sweet

peppapig3 Mon 01-Jun-09 12:39:56

I like it a lot- pretty and unusual. I really like the song and I don't think that's a reason not to use it. I would be more worried about jokes about the Biblical Delilah.

boodleboot Mon 01-Jun-09 14:56:34

What NN would this produce?

mrsruffallo Mon 01-Jun-09 14:57:36

Why? Why ? Why?

Kaylo Mon 01-Jun-09 15:42:41

NN could be Lila - also very pretty

Nancy66 Mon 01-Jun-09 16:36:06

It's one of those names i probably wouldn't use but really like.

TitsalinaBumsquash Mon 01-Jun-09 16:42:01

I really like Delilah i will be calling any DD that i have in the furture by that name. smile
