Ds has just started pre-school and there are some unusual names there, some I love and some not so keen on, but its interesting to see new names I hadnt heard of/considered before!
I live in a pretty conservative area.

Some are

Harmarnie (girl)
Indiana (girl)
Eden (boy)

What unusual ones have you got?

Harmarnie?
We only have a few eg Brooklyn and Chardonnay. Otherwise fairly much Luke and Chloe

No really odd ones. There is a family that have named all 7 of their children with names beginning with J, though.

I assumed that Harmarnies parents liked the name Hermione but changed the spelling (or didnt know how it was spelt - perhaps snobbish of me!)

TheProfiteroleThief Fri 01-May-09 18:49:22

I thought a variation on Harmony.
eek

Velvet

Its odd that there is an Indiana in Ds's class as thats my absolute dream name which I would have named one of my boys if I had been brave enough (they've both got names which could not be called unusual lol)

There is also an Anastasjia - is this the usual spelling or is it a variation?

Greensleeves Fri 01-May-09 18:58:30

I think Velvet is gorgeous and would use Ettie as a nn grin

Carenza
Melody
Raven
Raphael
Tianna (vomit)
Marly
Darwin
Romin

I like Melody and Raphael (was on my list for ds2 but vetoed by DH!)

DD has friends called Tanika, Christie-Eden, Fayme and Seriann

We have three Courtneys at the school I work at, so I wouldn't have thought of that as unusual.
There was a girl who was registerd at school as PJ but she was always called Anna.
We also had Parisa a few years ago.

nevergoogledragonbutter Fri 01-May-09 19:25:34

grin at greensleeves.

another strategy is to only name one unusual name, that can't be crossmatched. wink

tummytickler Fri 01-May-09 19:42:54

Serendipity, Daffodil, Sapphire, Tiger (boy)

frazzledoldbag Fri 01-May-09 22:22:55
