my other 2 are reuben and jacob so a common thread to them would be nice....my brain is mush this time round so any suggestions greatly appreciated.......

Are you looking for something Spanish? I grew up with a Spanish surname pretty much no one in my dad's family has a spanish first name - ie Farah, Robert, Frank, Joanne, Lydia, Felicia, Joseph, Rose

If you are looking for something sort of Spanish that still works in English, there's the following:

Anita
Isabel (this is the Spanish spelling - it's actually Spanish for Elizabeth)
Elena
Marta
Ana
Maria
Noelle
Nina
Jacinda
Ramona

I think boys' names are slightly trickier - I love Joaquin, but it's not particularly English friendly.

Felix
Leon
Anton
Rafael
Rio
Elias
Elija

wow thanks ladies some of those names are fab.....i do actually like Inez and Rafael is a family name but thinkning of that as the middle name....

the girls names are pretty which i like and the boys names mostly go with the other 2....oh yeah Joaquuin is a family name too but whilst it's one of the names i love, calling it across a school playground in
fife is another matter.....

only 10 weeks at the minute but so desperately tired all the time....forget it was like this!!

Reuben and Jacob are biblical, so I'd go for something else biblical.

Joachim
Micah
Solomon/Sol
Eli/Elijah
Isaac
Malachi
Gabriel
Samuel
Levi

Although I do know a quite young/trendy Australian one, I tend to think old, Jewish man with a thick Brooklyn accent when I hear Sol, sorry! (should mention that I'm American and from NY which is probably why that image pops into my head - probably won't do for most English!)

hi lastbox i kinda see what you mean but Sol Martinez sounds like he could grow up to be a footballer, pref for West Ham (wishful thinking on DH part!)

I love Rocco but with our surname all i can imagine is a porn star!!!!

I think Roscoe is one of those Scottish/Scandinavian names, a bit like Magnus or Kirsten. But the O on the end of it ties in Scotland and Spain (loosely!)

oSCar works in Spanish too. In fact, he might sound completely Spanish with the name Oscar.

What about Clara?

I know what you mean about your village!! I was brought up in a tiny village. Even on the rare occassions I mistakenly thought somebody was a stranger, they'd mutter, ah, that's one of Beatrice and Fred's children, the youngest, the youngest girl. Stop smoking or I'll tell your mum.
