I am not saying my views on this, but has been a name of discussion in our house for several days now.

i'm off to pack up two bedroooms whilst the kids are out, and will check back later.

dont hold back now!

i think it's quite sweet for a girl. but i don't think i'd use it.

colacubes Sun 28-Sep-08 11:12:21

i like it.

ShowOfHands Sun 28-Sep-08 11:17:03

I like it but prefer the spelling Jaime.

I like it - made me think of Jamie Lee Curtis straight away, which is no bad thing

mamadiva Sun 28-Sep-08 11:36:17

My sister is Jaimee people always say that's a boys name. But I think it is nice.

misdee Sun 28-Sep-08 11:39:37

i'll chuck in that our surname is Williams

so quite a boy-ish surname as well.

Hulababy Sun 28-Sep-08 11:39:58

I don't like it for a girl.

loobylu3 Sun 28-Sep-08 11:48:02

Don't like it at all!

misdee Sun 28-Sep-08 12:43:55

so would it be Jaime for a girl? or is Jamie an 'accpetable' female name these days?

falcon Sun 28-Sep-08 12:45:24

I don't like it, though it isn't so bad if it's just Jamie, if it's Jamie-Leigh or similar I immediately think chav.blush

misdee Sun 28-Sep-08 12:47:33

not Jamie-Leigh/Jamie-Lee

just Jaime/Jamie

LazyLinePainterJane Sun 28-Sep-08 12:49:21

Jaime is the Spanish variation on James. I think it makes it more feminine looking as a name. I like it, but wouldn't use it, IYSWIM. I would happily use it as a nickname or shortening though.

Isn't Jaime pronounced as Hy-may?

DeJaVous Sun 28-Sep-08 12:51:13

Take a look here...

I like it for a girl. I know a couple of Jamies - one is 21 now, and she is called Jamie Leigh, the other is 18/19, so not overly common use now.

I also have a lovely 21yr old dd called Leigh so am probably a bit biased towards names like this.

I prefer the spelling as Jamie though, the other way just seems more masculine to me.

Thankyou Dejasvous. I am fairly sure now it should be pronounced as High-me and not Jamie. I'll have to watch The Devil's Backbone again to be sure.grin

BigTeuchLittleTeuch Sun 28-Sep-08 13:03:04

I like it.

purpleflower Sun 28-Sep-08 13:04:34

I went to school with a Jamie, she was lovely and very pretty.

belgo Sun 28-Sep-08 13:04:53

Lovely for a boy. Not for a girl.

ledodgy Sun 28-Sep-08 13:18:56

I like it it reminds me of this

ellingwoman Sun 28-Sep-08 13:26:47

I like Janie better.

Jamie unfortunately reminds me of someone I don't like

QueenBhannae Sun 28-Sep-08 13:27:20

Really dislike this tbh.
Dated and masculine esp with Williams as a surname.

belgo Sun 28-Sep-08 13:38:02

I like Jenna

frazzledoldbag34 Sun 28-Sep-08 13:43:52

Reminds me of Britney Spears younger sister. She's Jamie-Lyn isn't she? Don't really like it.
