What do you all think of this name? A friend has recenty named her DS Rufus and it has really grown on me.
Do you think the baby has to be a red headed for the name to suit it?

Love it, whatever the hair colour.

I love it, but we can't use it as DH cannot pronounce 'r's properly shame as it would fit nicely with our surname (unusually)

I love it and wanted it for DS but I was over ruled.

I also wanted it for DS but was overruled so it is his middle name. Don' think hair colour matters but if he had been a redheadI would have insisted.

Like it.

Why would he have to be a red head?

Rufus actually means red-headed!

It's ok. I know of about five of them - ALL with red hair. It's a bit of a ginger's name.

Three of them were born this year. I think it's on the rise and won't be long till it's in the top 100.

Fab name. Mr Wainwright isn't ginger (but he is very gorgeous).

This was one of my name choices (After the devine Mr Wainwright!) DH said absolutely not (boo!), but I'm going to keep it in reserve for if we ever have 2 boys. Incidentally, I'm only 14 weeks with baby number 1 and I don;t know if it's a boy or a girl, so I'm getting ahead of myself there.
In summary, yes, use it, it's a fab name! And listen to Rufus Wainwright, to see how wonderful someone with that name can be.

mmm, it's ok but I can't help but hear middle-school aged boys chanting 'Rufas the Doofas' in years to come.....

i love it - it was on our list for ages because of Rufus Wainwright, Rufus Sewell and Rufus Norris (all tall dark rugged and handsome...actually think wainwright might be a bit of a midget but he makes up for it by being cool)

trouble is we've had so many people pull faces about it, it's made me take it off our list which is a real shame but I don't my son to see those faces when he introduces himself (FIL mainly thinking it's too posh, my family thinking it's a name for a labrador)

I love it! It is on our list for DC3. Great to see such positive feedback as when I listed it here previously I had a lot of doggy comments!
