Heard this while out and about last week.
Any opinions? Is it popular?

Love it. Would have had it for DD if I could have convinced Dh that he loved it too!
Ended up calling her another name that I imagine is popular with Oxfam volunteers

It seems to be one of those 'formerly the property of sweet old ladies but now back in vogue' names. After all, in the last few years Ruby has gone from being the name of everyone's favourite old auntie to top of the girls' name charts.

I think Iris is a very pretty name, like Violet or Primrose. Yes, it's true that the end of Iris Murdoch's life was sad but she was an inspiring woman in many ways. I would be more wary of the celebrity connotations.

IT's a commonly used name in Germany (pronounced Ee-rys, with a hard a)...lots of "girls" my age had that name....it has never been one of my favourites...even though I have a few friends with teh name...

love Ivy....now that is a pretty name, I think

Beautiful, would have been DS's name if he had turned out to be a girl!

I have a 7 year old Iris so i obviously love it! We have only come across one other so it is not too popular where i am - but maybe on the rise?? Cant see it becoming as popular as Lily or Poppy though.

It's lovely. Not too popular at the moment - it was more popular before.

Its my daughters name.. i love it.

She's 22 months old, just had another daughter 3 days ago and still can't find a name we like as much as we loved iris.

Its a hard one to beat in my opinion.

I love it.

It's my nan's name - she is in her 80s and wouldn't be seen dead volunteering in Oxfam .

If we have another dd it will be her middle name.
