Magnus or Barnaby?

Not due for a long while but at present my fav. is Barnaby and my partner's is Magnus.
Magnus is not a name I would usually go for as I tend to lean towards softer sounding names, but for him to suggest anything is a miracle. Which name do Mumsnetters prefer?

Barnaby just makes me think of that bear with the annoying voice!

I have never done this before...

but no to both.

Magnus is, as you say, 'hard' and irretrievably linked to Magnus Magnusson in the poor marx brain. Barnaby is just too cute for me.

I only voted for Magnus because Barnaby is completely out of the question.

Magnus - it is a very strong name.
Another variant is Magnar.

I love Magnus. But I have been banned from using it for any future dses, because of the Sportacus connection.

I much prefer Barnaby, but would prob refer to him as Barney most of the time.

Also think of Magus Magnusson (what were his parents thinking, with a surname like that???) when I hear Magnus. Also makes me think of Magners Cider .

Must be honest, I would not choose either but do like Barnaby.

Magnus Magnusson's father was called Magnus - that's why his surname (patronymic really) is Magnusson. Actually 'Magnus Magnusson' is a pretty common name in Iceland.

The Sportacus thing is unfortunate. I don't mind either name, tbh.
