I love love love this name!!It may have become my favourite boys name now.
I nearly nearly had Ned for DS2.Unless you are in Scotland I would ignore the Scottish connotation.

Short for Edward.I like both names a lot.I personally would always use Edward as full name though, and then Ned as nn.
