with the Baby Names threads?
Just call your baby what you like when it is born ... and then people can get used to calling your baby Tooty Frooty Smith or whatever as it is a done deal ....

But please <begging> stop listing names like:

Dante
Hector
Edith (Does anyone remember "'Allo 'Allo")
Blaise
Milton
BAYARD??? WTF?

I can't stand it anymore ....
<<sits rocking in the corner>>

grin

Dante and Bayard were raising an eyebrow with me as well.

Just call 'em what you want, tell people after the baby is born and if they don't like it they'll just say "Ohhhhh...how unusual". Easy!

i love the baby name threads.
you could always hide the threads if they are making you sit rocking in the corner.

what about Mildew?, I think it's pretty.

ghosty Tue 26-Aug-08 08:18:33

LOL @ Mildew grin

Hide threads? I didn't know you could to that ... how does one do that please?

Mind you, I think I may be too nosey to actually hide them completely ....

I hate these threads as well. I can never understand how someone who is so interested in such ridiculous unusual names also needs approval from a bunch of nutters anonymous women.

<goes to join ghosty in the corner>

Hecate Tue 26-Aug-08 08:22:07

Yup. Hide 'em and shurrup grin

Personally, I rather like it when someone comes on and, in all seriousness, asks what we think of Alfonso Falafalafal

FrannyandZooey Tue 26-Aug-08 08:22:11

LOL
you just listed most of my favourite baby names
(not personally Milton or Bayard but there you go)

MaryAnnSingleton Tue 26-Aug-08 08:25:16

ghosty - I absolutely agree with you but sometimes find myself looking and posting my approval/disapproval

erm, hide the threads Ghosty...and you know, you don't have to read anything you don't want too

tbh, I lurve these Babynames threads....but then I am possibly not normal....

(pst, would it be completely nuts to open up a namethread in Babynames , if the name would be for a cat?????)

ghosty Tue 26-Aug-08 08:31:50

I have found myself shouting at the computer when I see a thread entitled, "What do you think of DingDong for a boy?"

I rarely open them ... It is just the thread titles make me want to poke my eyes out with a blunt stick.

grin

Hecate Tue 26-Aug-08 08:32:18

Yes 3, y'freak, you!! wink

3andnomore Tue 26-Aug-08 08:34:39

So, what do you lot think about the name Ziva for a little girlkitten?

(runs away and hides from ghosty ;))

Hecate Tue 26-Aug-08 08:39:36

How is that pronounced?

zee-vah
or ziv-ah/ar

ghosty Tue 26-Aug-08 08:41:26

3andnomore .... silly names for pets is fine, ok and in fact the right thing ... Ziva is a great name for a cat.
Samantha, however, is NOT!
Pets shouldn't be called by human names IMO ... unless they are old fashioned names like Hector wink

like Zee-va . it's the name of a strong character on NCIS and Kitten needs a cool name, as our dog is called Ninja....

9off to hide again...Ghosty is scowling to me, I am sure I can feel her evil eye on me )

3andnomore Tue 26-Aug-08 08:44:48

lol, I agree with you Ghosty (Hecot is the name of a Great Dane )

but hatrick it's a girl...can't call her Geoff....(our Tomcat, that ran off was called Shinobi ...it means Ninja, lol

Hecate Tue 26-Aug-08 08:44:54

Ninja and Zee-va?

See, I don't think 2 names ending in an 'a' sound work together. What about Willow?

ghosty Tue 26-Aug-08 08:45:13

I love your pet names 3andnomore - Ninja is brilliant!!

Geoff is actually a great name for a cat. But not for a Baby.

3andnomore Tue 26-Aug-08 08:45:19

Hecot- Hector of course

3andnomore Tue 26-Aug-08 08:47:38

Hecate, well I don't care what you think............................................................................................... .................................................................................................... .......................................................................................
FLOUNCE [sticking Tongue out emoticon]

grin

Willow is cute, btw

ghosty Tue 26-Aug-08 08:49:18

Edith is a good name for a cat wink

kiskidee Tue 26-Aug-08 08:52:01

lol at ghosty.

I remember the days when MNers got along just fine without having a jury help them name their babies.

surely most some of these threads are just pee-takes.

DontHunAtMeIWillBite Tue 26-Aug-08 08:58:30

hurumph, 3!
grin

I think so, kis. But hormones do some bloody odd things to you.grin
