Gwen Stefani's new baby boy has joined the ranks of bizarrely named celeb children - Zuma

I thought Zuma sounded more like a girl than a boy. Hmmm, can't say i'm convinced!!

Makes me think of those car ads - Zoom, zoom

Fimbo Fri 22-Aug-08 17:23:49

Sounds like a sumo wrestler to me.

The other boy is Kingston which in Slebville isn't too bad.

Actually there's a v addictive game on Xbox live called Zuma - not great inspiration for naming your child.

I agree it doesn't go with Kingston at all!

When I read the thread title I assumed sh'd had a girl. The Nesta bit sounds girly too.

Just googled and Zuma is a boys name but Nesta is a girls name. Don't really have anything to say about rock hmm

zuma = juice

nesta = captain haddock's butler

Zuma...the South African ANC leader? Hardly a man for anyone's children to aspire to emulating!

JackieNo Fri 22-Aug-08 18:25:37

Is it definitely Nesta and not Nestor?

Nesta is Bob Marley's middle name (spelled Nesta, not Nestor, I believe). Seeing as her other son is Kingston, I bet it's after Bob.

Think Zuma is a super trendy restaurant in of conception maybe????? wink

JackieNo Fri 22-Aug-08 22:03:40

That could explain it then, MrsMattie.

lol, in scotland (and it will happen as gavin is from scotland) it will get called a zoomer. as in a space cadet

MannyMoeAndJack Fri 22-Aug-08 22:20:11

Zuma is also the name of a popular beach in Malibu - used for the filming of Baywatch apparently.

Mammina Fri 22-Aug-08 22:27:04

Nesta is a Welsh name, does she have welsh connections? Probably with a name like Gwen...

MannyMoeAndJack Fri 22-Aug-08 22:29:32

Also, Zuma is a diminutive form of Montezuma

<chocolate anyone?>

Just makes me think of ordering zuma del dia at this nice juice bar in Barcelona.

It's a poor selection of monikers IMO, too many 'a' endings apart from them all being fugly.

cyteen Sat 23-Aug-08 17:13:39

Well, actually I guess it was zumo del dia, but you get the drift.
