I like it, but it's a bit hard to pull off.

ooh Kitty - you do like the 'posher' sounding names dont you? grin

rupert and Jemima!

I do like Jemima as it happens.

What about Beatrice or Nell? or Imogen?

I like it, it's my sisters name. Her nicknames as a girl were Mima and Minkins. Now she is known as Jem or Jemma

it STILL makes me think of Playschool
even after 30 or so years

babyjamas Mon 18-Aug-08 12:57:46

we have a Jemima - we're certainly not posh, never had any negative comments (well not to my face). gets shortened to Mima, Mimi, Jimjams etc etc but think will always be Jemima, unlike her sister who is Harriet but seems forever known as Hattie.

PuppyMonkey Mon 18-Aug-08 12:59:19

Jemima always makes me think of the doll from Play school. <<shows age>>

It IS posh, no getting away from it.

belgo Mon 18-Aug-08 13:23:47

I think you would have to like the name Jem, as more then likely she'd be called this even if you don't want her to be called Jem.

You're obviously too young to remember Playschool

Iklboo Mon 18-Aug-08 13:42:54

On holiday once we met a couple with 3 DCs - Bertie, Gertie & Jemima (B&G were twins)
Imogen was our name if DS has been a DD

Jemima does remind me of Playschool but it could be worse, you could want to call her Hamble (the fugly doll)

MrsMattie Mon 18-Aug-08 13:43:23

Lovely for a teddybear / doll / dog

Tortington Mon 18-Aug-08 13:43:34

aunt jemima

PootyApplewater Mon 18-Aug-08 13:53:43

Jemima the Mimer.

Would be fine if you have a DD who is adept at fighting her way out of invisible paper bags, or who is good at smoothing the walls of an invisible box.

Bit of a risk though.
