May I ask an opinion on the name Beattie?

For a girl(you can never tell on this topic!) My dh and dc like it but everyone else has looked horrified.

I wanted to see if that was the general consensus.

Beata is another european version which I like.

I would always give the full name then shorten, it gives the child more options when they are older.

To me, it's a scottish surname.
I don't find it pretty.
I do like Beata/Beatrix/Beatrice though.

Oh, my sister's MIL is called Beattie, and to be honest that colours my judgement cos she's completely BARKING ...

Pointy I'm not bothered- I didn't get shirty. Her "proper" name is Beabea but everyone thought that was a stripper's name. My ds renamed her.

But I really like Beatrice for long and Beattie for a nickname!
