Hmm neither does anything for me I'm afraid. But if I really had to choose I guess it would be Violetta.

I love the name Violet. Not so keen on Violetta.

Violet: sounds like violent, reminds me of Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Choc factory...."you're turning, violet, Violet!"

Violetta: sounds like someone who dies in dramatic fashion in an Italian opera.

I am so unhelpful today. Ignore me.

Prefer Violet but it reminds me of my mum's friend of the same name who struck up an internet relationship and promptly dyed her hair blonde, got a tatoo and left her DH and kids.

Violet is short for Violetta - only found out recently that it was the full name of my own Auntie Violet. Love it - friend of mine recently used it as a middle name for her DD, and it reminded me how pretty it was. My DD's middle name is Ivy, so I'm a sucker for old plant / flower names - also named after a dear departed auntie!
