Both as names for a boy - which do you prefer and why?

I LOVE Rowan and would have it on my shortlist but dh doesn't like it for some reason. I think it's a really cute name.

Don't like Kieron but not sure why - just not my sort of name.

Rowan as Keiran is very very prevalent ime

HumphreyPinCushion Mon 04-Aug-08 20:57:23

I prefer Keiron, as my friend has a lovely son called this. He is a very cool dude. grin
They spell it Ciaran though.

Rowan. Because it's DS's name, so I'm biased. grin

I would spell the other name Kieran.

keiron is weird spelling IMO
Kieran or the Gaelic Ciaran is best

Or Ciaran as HPC says.

Turniphead1 Mon 04-Aug-08 20:58:23

I like both - but Kieran or Ciaran
or Roan

way they are spelt in Ireland and Irish named [lol]

DorrisMcWhirter Mon 04-Aug-08 20:58:34

Rowan as Kieran happens to be the name of every 'challenging' child I ever taught at school grin

ShowOfHands Mon 04-Aug-08 20:58:57

I went to school with a Kieran. He was beautiful.

Rowan's popular and I think it's a girl's name.

chocamocha Mon 04-Aug-08 21:00:08

Sorry - I actually meant Kieran blush

windyweather Mon 04-Aug-08 21:00:45

Roan, that my boys name and he is toatlly gorgeous.

SilkCutMama Mon 04-Aug-08 21:03:04

I'm so sorry blush but you dis ask - I don't like either - sorry

SaggyOldBagpuss Mon 04-Aug-08 21:03:43

I have a Kieran and he is a challenging child

So I'd go for Kieran cos they may be challenging but they are lovely too

^Rowans are possibly just as lovely but as I don't know any I can't say^

chocamocha Mon 04-Aug-08 21:04:45

That's perfectly allright SilkCutMama smile

I'm surprised that there are a lot of Kieran's around, I only know two who are both adults.
