nailpolish Thu 31-Jul-08 11:32:50

as in randy...hmm

FrannyandZooey Thu 31-Jul-08 11:34:14

We have a male friend whose real name is Randy although he has a nick name that he is usually known by
it does meet with fairly universal derision when people discover his real name

randy is generally known for meaning 'ready for sex'
I am not convinced you have thought this through

jellybeans Thu 31-Jul-08 11:34:24

sorry but it is dreadful, will get teased rotten.

RusselBrussel Thu 31-Jul-08 11:35:10

Randi? As in Randy? As in aroused and ready for sex?

Are you sure??

no no no I consider randy to mean horny hmm
please don't!

HumphreyPillow Thu 31-Jul-08 11:37:07

Milly Molly Randi?

WelliesAndPyjamas Thu 31-Jul-08 11:38:10

I wouldn't

artichokes Thu 31-Jul-08 11:41:00

No, no, no.

Randi makes me think sex maniac.
If I heard of a person called Randi I would assume they were male.
Its also not a very pretty word.
In addition it sounds rather like Brandy which is a terrible, terrible name.

Washersaurus Thu 31-Jul-08 11:43:45

I thought Randy was a boys name - as in National Lampoon?

It does instantly make you think of randy as in gagging for sex.

BlueChampagne Thu 31-Jul-08 13:33:01

Call her Miranda then you have the option if you still like Randi.

VictorianSqualor Thu 31-Jul-08 13:37:50

Well Randi is five letters, not four.
So not inkeeping with the four letter names.
Much prefer Miranda.

MmeLindt Thu 31-Jul-08 13:40:02

No, for the reasons that everyone else stated. Sorry

kittywise Thu 31-Jul-08 13:42:02

No, sounds cheap and chavvy.

duchesse Thu 31-Jul-08 13:43:08

OMG, in Britain? No no no no! It's horrible even on an American man in my view. There must be plenty of alternatives- Joan, Jean, Mary, Lena, etc, etc, etc...

Blandmum Thu 31-Jul-08 13:43:19

She will be dreadfully teased.

someone will not come along and say that children can be cruel about anything and if you love the name you should use it. Which is IMHo a load of cobblers.

Call her Shagbandit and get it over with.....

duchesse Thu 31-Jul-08 13:44:48

Martian- pmsl- surely just "Shag" if it has to be short and sweet?

KateF Thu 31-Jul-08 13:47:00

I really wouldn't. It's an American name which doesn't work well in the UK. Miranda is lovely though.

themoon66 Thu 31-Jul-08 13:51:25

Randi Randi Randi

Nope.. no matter how many times I say it, it's still dreadful.

ThatBigGermanPrison Thu 31-Jul-08 13:52:18

I think it's a lovely name, and when she graduates from Stripper College, she will hold aloft her nipple tassles in pride, grateful to her parents for giving her inspiration to work in the sex industry by giving her a stripper's name.

DisenchantedPlusBump Thu 31-Jul-08 13:52:28

No,please don't!

expatinscotland Thu 31-Jul-08 13:52:39

What is it with this trend for giving children dogs' names?
