Darcy Duffy better.

I would have had Darcy for DS1 if a girl (now almost 16)

namechangecosfeelingsad Tue 15-Jul-08 22:34:36

I wouldn't have said pornstar, more Beano naughty-child-character grin. Very cheeky.

DonnyLass Tue 15-Jul-08 22:34:38

fantastic as in good or fantastic as in dumb ... be hionest i wont be offended!

harpomarx Tue 15-Jul-08 22:36:41

are you double-barrelling your name, donny?

donny darcy duffy would be spectacular!

or is it for dcs?

DonnyLass Tue 15-Jul-08 22:37:01

I just seemed to have gone mad for it today after deliberating for weeks (am 20 weeks preg with second)

am thinking

Duffy Francesca D'Arcy

(that's how our surname is spelled etc)

dh thinks its mental

I just think it has a buzz about it ... or praps I'm just buzzing with hormones

DonnyLass Tue 15-Jul-08 22:38:17

prob is there's that singer around now right called duffy so people will think i copied that ...

Collision Tue 15-Jul-08 22:39:11

am still not clear......duffy as a first name??

No

elmoandella Tue 15-Jul-08 22:40:44

harpo ROFL "donny duffy darcy"

DonnyLass Tue 15-Jul-08 22:40:49

hmmm dh just told me in no uncertain terms that he hates it at no way ... and he doesnt lay down the law often!

hmmm .... kind've makes me like it more wink

i like Daphne too but have had looks of repulsion on that one .. i guess I have a hing for alliteration (dd1 called Delilah)

harpomarx Tue 15-Jul-08 22:42:52

oh, ok, I misunderstood grin

Duffy Darcy.

It's quite cute.

Duffy Francesca D'Arcy is straight out of a Jilly Cooper I reckon. Mental but what the hell!

ThinWhiteDuchess Tue 15-Jul-08 22:45:34

Daffy Duffy Darcy sprang to mind. Sorry, imo no.

elmoandella Tue 15-Jul-08 22:47:22

for good ness sake what next.

dangleberry darcy?????

DonnyLass Tue 15-Jul-08 22:47:24

i know what you mean duchess

I really did like Daphne then thought its not v strong ... you think dappy=daffy dont you ... or of daphne from neighbours and start wanting a smoothie ...

suwoo Tue 15-Jul-08 22:47:38

Delilah rocks but Duffy is too much due to the current singer, you would look like a twat that had copied her. There must be some more cool D names about.....somewhere??

DonnyLass Tue 15-Jul-08 22:50:24

dangleberry?????

but Duffy is an actual family name not one I am making up ... not trying to be 'different' but would like to keep a family heritage in there and thought Duffy D'Arcy was fun

oops starting to sound defensive now ... soz ... I'll shut up and see what the consensus is!

elmoandella Tue 15-Jul-08 22:52:03

dionne
daria

dorothy (dolly for short)
donna

does it have to be d

DonnyLass Tue 15-Jul-08 22:52:13

lol suwoo ... yup youre right (although I look like a twat most of the time, noting new there!)

quite like doris too ... no I'm not kidding, and yes most people recoil at my general name likes!

ChukkyPig Tue 15-Jul-08 22:55:25

Know Duffy is your surname.

But Duffy as a girl's name must be short for something?

Anyone know what?

elmoandella Tue 15-Jul-08 22:58:34

duffy was a surname original. just been used as a first name.

a bit like thomas is both a first and last name

ChukkyPig Tue 15-Jul-08 23:04:03

So Duffy isn't short for anything then?

In that case prob not IMO will look like named after the singer.

Must be loads of D names though! Delia, delilah, dinah, diana...

Spidermama Tue 15-Jul-08 23:05:36

I LOVE it. I really like alliteration with names. My sister led the way and two of my sons have alliterative names.

Duffy Darcy is utterly inspired and a total, absolute must. To ignore this would be to look the proverbial gifthorse in the mouth.

elmoandella Tue 15-Jul-08 23:05:47

dinah..

think cars movie

dina-rod,

DonnyLass Tue 15-Jul-08 23:06:06

is she a good singer?

Joking ...

praps I'll switch it and have duffy as a middle name instead to keep the family links ...
