Don't like it personally, but I guess I wouldn't as it is DP's ex wife's name!

I really liked this 6 yrs ago when I was pg with DD.

TO a lot of people in the UK, Sylvia is a died blonde, tattooed, 30 ciggies a day, bing0 players name. I could get past that though.

Sylvie the new Sophie?

Miyazaki

we went for Pearl in the end (2nd name Lois - grandma's name) but I still hanker after Ursula - I love it, will have to be hypothetical dd4 name though because I'm not going thru pregnancy again lol

Beautiful and elegant, Sylvie is a lovely shortening. Also useful in that it works across most of the European languages. It was one of my shortlists for DD (who has a similarly french/english name)

I love it, but DH has an awful relative by that name that the whole family hates.

Love it - would have been a terrible clash with family name though
We have similar trans-European names too takver
Also love Ursula, very pretty

I love Sylvia. DH2B loathes it and won't even consider it on our hypothetical baby girls name list

We had a mad neighbour called sylvia when I was a kid.

So it makes me hear her husband yelling 'nooooo syyyyyyllllviiia aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh' in a very broad kent accent.

So I would go for Sylvie if it was me!
