Caspian or Peregrine

Title says it all... Am now about to burst and need a boys name. Already have 2 DDs; Romany Eulalia (Romy) and Antigone Sapphire (Tiggy) and need a boy's name. Me and DH have narrowed it down to Caspian or Peregrine which we both love. I prefer Caspian and always have but DH worries people might think we have been 'inspired' by the new Narnia movie, he likes Peregrine more.
DS's sons middle names will be Xavier and James in any order. Help us oh wise mners!

No keen on either particularly, but caspian if I had to pick.

Caspian is lovely, I didn't know about the film but like the books.

I like Eulalia!

Not keen on Peregrine, for some reason.

Caspian is lovely and if shortened to Cass then I think very cool. When I hear/read Peregrine I think falcon (that may just be me though).

I prefer Caspian. It will always draw thoughts of 'Prince Caspian' because of the book perhaps, but the movie will only be a hot topic for a short time.

I named my dd the same year a certain movie came out (despite the fact that her name's been my favourite girls name since my childhood). The film has come and gone and no-one bats an eyelid now when she's introduced anywhere.

Definitely different and in that, they go well with your dd's names. Romy is lovely.

Caspian - I like it. Peregrine - come on now, you can't be serious!!

Perry would remind me of (Harry Enfield's) Kevin's friend but Peregrine could also be shortened to Reggie. I personally prefer Caspian. Love your DDs' names

I think Romy and Tiggy are lovely names. Re. Caspian and Peregrine - I think both of these names are making a little too much effort, if you know what I mean? They are both quite handsome names but perhaps a little too outre.

When is the Narnia film out?

Nope, use Rufus.

LOl I thought this thread was a joke until I opened it!

Caspian is the lesser of the two evils imo.

Tis giving your LO quite a lot to live up to mind you!

I agree that Caspian is the lesser of the 2 evils.

I like 'em although they are quite posh except for Romany

I have a nephew named Caspian. He's 12 and v cool. Everyone calls him Cass.

I prefer Caspian to Peregrine but then I'm used to hearing it now and I love James but I'm biased as it's DS's name.

Caspian's a good name. Peregrine reminds me of Peregrine Took and you might be cursing your child with hairy feet!!!??!!

You'll know which when he/she's born though - one will just seem right.

Tigerschick · 26/05/2008 15:12

Another vote for Caspian here - Cass is very cool and, as someone else said, he could shorten it to Ian if he finds it too unusual when he is older.

schneebly · 26/05/2008 15:18

Neither to my tase really but they go with your DD's names. I would definitely go for Caspian over Peregrine. Don't lie Peregrine at all!

You can only get away with Peregrine if you're titled. I like Caspian though.

Even as one who likes poncey names, I think I'd stop short of Caspian or Peregrine.

What about
Inigo
Rufus
Emile
Jago
Felix
Casper?

I love Romy and Tiggy. I like Caspian and it goes well with your daughters' names.

Peregrine is like a joke name to me though. LIke Nigel or Malcolm. It just seems like it's taking the piss. Sorry to anybody whose husband is called Nigel etc....

I think Julius would go well with your daughters' names too.

GL, interesting thread. I wouldn't have the nerve to call my dd Antigone, but it makes a change from Isabel and Amelia. (I LIKE those names, nobody attack me please).

Is it just me that thinks this is another wind up?

I do like the names though
But Peregrine reminds me of that bottled water and a large bird.
