Think I’ve found the perfect name for DD. Disclaimer: DD’s first name translates to ‘loveable’ in husband’s native language.

So DS name could be … ‘Mungo’. It’s Celtic for loveable too.

How bad is it?

Mungo… time for dinner!
Awesome job Mungo!
Let’s talk about Mungo’s school report.

Please someone tell me it’s a grower.

Nope it’s really bad. I assume you are joking.

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby Wed 24-Nov-21 18:15:24

It's not a loveable name I'll tell ya that❤️

Knockoneofftheshelftowin Wed 24-Nov-21 18:16:35

I thought it was a name for a male, as in Mungo Jerry.

CandleWick4 Wed 24-Nov-21 18:16:43

Please don’t. As wrong as it is to bully - he will most definitely be bullied.

Bushkin Wed 24-Nov-21 18:16:52

I wouldn’t

Anothernamechange3 Wed 24-Nov-21 18:17:23

Isn’t that what Mowgli in The Archers got his name changed to? No laughing from me, I hate the mocking of names people personally dislike on here. Have you shared with your dh?

I just pictured a wee dog with a tartan jacket on when I read that confused

TwinklyBranch Wed 24-Nov-21 18:18:08

It's not great. How about Murdo? Which is also not great, but better than Mungo.

Monsterjam Wed 24-Nov-21 18:18:14

I laughed

BornIn78 Wed 24-Nov-21 18:18:37

No, you can’t do that to a child.

vodkaredbullgirl Wed 24-Nov-21 18:18:41

nope

Anothernamechange3 Wed 24-Nov-21 18:19:07

At the risk of sounding snobby/elitist I think this is a name where it probably does depend on where you live/what other names are in the area. I can imagine some places where people would be unkind and others where people wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

PineappleTart Wed 24-Nov-21 18:19:39

I like it

SmallGreenStripes Wed 24-Nov-21 18:20:16

I like it too

Jobegg Wed 24-Nov-21 18:25:13

Reminds me of the horror film Lake Mungo which is easily one of the most eerie films I’ve ever watched.

KirstenBlest Wed 24-Nov-21 18:26:54

I like it @LadyHalesBroach

cormorantes Wed 24-Nov-21 18:27:00

KirstenBlest Wed 24-Nov-21 18:27:59

TrashyPanda Wed 24-Nov-21 18:29:22

Patron Saint of Glasgow.
Famous explorer Mungo Park.
It’s a fine Scottish name.

I was at school with a guy called Mungo. He wasn’t slagged about his name.

Spidey66 Wed 24-Nov-21 18:29:55

No, sorry.

It's one of those names thats a great name for a pet, but not a child.

TabithaTumbler Wed 24-Nov-21 18:29:59

Mary, Mungo and Midge.

I quite like it blush

TooWicked Wed 24-Nov-21 18:30:01

I feel like there was a Mungo in Harry Potter? I think it’s ok.

Fleur405 Wed 24-Nov-21 18:30:23

St Mungo is the patron saint of Glasgow so the name is widely known there though I’ve never met anyone called Mungo. Also St Mungo was a man. A pp suggested murdo which is more common in Scotland but is also a boys name.
